Unbelievable – Clyde is awful. He did exactly what I told him not to do. The coloring job he did was awful in that I still still have a lot of roots and his coloring job left about 3/4 an inch from my scalp, not to mention the lines are uneven. He cut way too much off of my hair and made crazy layers which is exactly what I told him NOT to do.
I did not tip and I would have left without paying if I did not like the company itself. The last experience I had in a Dellaria down town was so great that I guess my expectations were too high. What a waste. I'm a college student and I can't afford to waste that kind of money.
I cannot speak for the other stylists that work there but I do know that Clyde does not know what he is doing... don't use him.
Victoria for curly hair – I have thick, curly hair. It's very hard to cut well. I found Victoria after stopping someone on the street with hair like mine and asking where she had her hair cut. The same has since happened to me--a woman came up to me on the subway just to complement my hair. No kidding. My hair has never looked prettier.
I'm not sure what I think of the salon as a whole. I haven't yet tried any of its other services. The receptionists are not particularly friendly, but they are efficient.
Never go back there again – I did perm there. The medicine they used on my hair smell like a hell and burn my skin immediately. I asked them why but they said it is common thing. I felt itchy on my head and neck all night. And I can see skin dropped off. My hair began to drop more and more since that day. That is the last place in the world I would go!
Don't go to Dellaria for Men's Haircut. They Don't Know What They Are Doing – I went to Dellaria for a simple men's haircut before the holidays. I came in with very long hair and specifically requested my hair not to be cut short. PLEASE TRY NOT TO LAUGH, THIS REALLY SUCKED.
I got my hair completely butchered and hacked off - and he did it FAST. My hair was shaved almost to the skin. He was able to accomplish this with scissors, I wouldn't let him use clippers. My right side was hacked MUCH higher than the left and wasn't blended on either. To make it worse, he didn't cut ANYTHING off the front, but in the back it was hacked all the way to the top of my head. (It was basically a Mohawk cut)
YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS
But at one point I asked if there was wax service because I wanted to get my eye brows to look normal (yeS guys do get this done every so often). He said 'sure' and immediately shaved my eye brows with the clippers before I could grab his hand once I realized what he was doing.
I Completely freaked out. I did not pay for the haircut. I was so ticked off that all this happened, I caused a scene and lost control. It was such a hack job that I seriously think it was done purposely. I felt terrible afterwards because I took it out on the receptionist.
I was completely laughed at by my friends, coworkers, and family.
IN CLOSING: If there is someone you do not like, maybe a coworker or family member and you want to get even, refer them to a Dellaria Salon.
Great color, good customer service and stylists. – I always go back to this salon after trying many others. it's just a good place to have your hair done. It's not pretentious, relatively affordable. I like that they don't "surprise" with extra charges like some other salons do. I found a great stylist here and he just always gives me the most gorgeous highlights that I get tons of compliments on. I like that the receptionists are super friendly and always there to help you with products and other questions. I once went to the other Dellaria on Kenmore square to get a full foil that as a result didn't even show on my hair. So I went to this location and they kindly (of course I had a receipt) fixed it for me at no charge and it turned out great.
Worst haircut I've ever had. – I went to Dellaria on Saturday afternoon for a foil and cut. I had never been there before, but my roommates said it was decent. I walked in with a gorgeous hair cut (from a Toni and Guy salon in Tucson) and asked the stylist to trim my hair but keep the style. He laughed and told me I could give him my opinion, but he knew better.
The color was ok, but the haircut was terrible! Granted, I do not like the style - now I look like a 1993 soccer mom (and I'm 23). But worse, it's just a bad cut. He did it in about five minutes. First of all, the layers are chunky and uneven. Second, he cut it as if I part my hair in the middle, when I had told him that I part it to the left. This leaves it smooth on one side and chunky on the other. The cut is so awful for my hair that I cannot get the layers to lie flat no matter how much I straighten them. Even my guy friends, who get $10 haircuts and have absolutely no style sense, say it looks terrible!
The worst part? $100 for the foil and $70 for the cut. Expensive on a student budget!
I thought about going back and asking them to fix it, but now I am terrified to let anyone there touch my hair. I would never go back.
Great, well-priced cut. – I am thrilled with the haircut I got here. If you are looking for a well-priced place with a nice atmosphere, and friendly staff, I would highly recommend this place.
The receptionists seemed like they needed a little help... there was a mixup because there were two customers with the same name, but the haircut was very nice.
Dellaria Salons – I'm sure everyone has noticed that the majority of positive comments are directed at Skin by Stavroula in the basement of Dellaria. She is the best, but her business is separate and Dellaria is lucky to have her there because doing so boosts their own rating.
However, I cannot recommend Dellaria to anyone. I had been going for four years to the same stylist, who --on my last visit -- fried my hair so badly that it fell out in chunks. To make matters worse, their "policy" was not to reimburse me for damaging my hair without banning me from using any of their salons. They treated me as if I had done something to them! I cannot recommend these salons to anyone. With customer relations such as that, you're better off going anywhere else.
Best Ever – GO TO THIS SALON! For me, Best ever salon experience in nearly 20 years of trying to find THE hairdresser. My dark brown curly frizzy hair was transformed into a cool, honey and light blonde medium length cut with waves. Best of all I now know what to do to style it--so easy, and easier than fussing with it with no results--I got stares from strange but really cute men younger than me(!!!) in stores, and my husband's eyes lit up. All I had to buy (and it was my choice, no pushing products at all)-was color safe shampoo and a blowdryer (I never had one). I must say I look very good, and feel sexy and well groomed, a plus since my second child was born 4 years ago. That's a long time to be dissatisfied. As I said, guys were turning around to look at me! Flattering.
Stavroula's magnificent skincare – I have been getting facials for years, and until my visit to Stavroula's skin care beneath dellaria's salon in Brookline, I have never been so impressed. In a warm, clean, and calming atmosphere, stacy has given me a series of microderms (with a bunch of extra peels/treatments included in the price) that are reaping phenomenal effects on my skin! She is a compassionate skin care specialist, with an excellent knowledge in her field, and equally excellent products to match. She completely customizes her procedures to suit all her clients, which is essential in this business. I would recommend her for any spa services, as you will be getting ten times the service for a very reasonable price!
