Rudest staff ever. I've never been treated so rudely in my whole life. I will never go there again even if the food is good. It's not worth the price of being openly treated as a dumb. Also they accept cash only but they don't inform you on the phone or on the website. I am so disappointed!

Best Thai food AND best Thai food price in the country!. My wife and I recently have moved away from Brookline/New England after living there for 7 years, and hands down the restaurant we miss the most is Rod Dee. Granted there is no parking (we used to just walk down from our Beacon St. apartment), the space inside is best described as a "hole in the wall" (I used to wait outside in my big winter coat as my wife would sneak through the crowd to snatch our take out order), and we used to fight over who would call in the order since the english was "not always so good" (although in 7 years they never got it wrong), this was the tastiest and most inexpensive Thai food we have ever had, period. We have lived all over the country and never have found a place where 6 bucks got you a huge styroform dish of curry, rice, and chicken (I am a 6'5", 215, and a single massaman curry chicken put me down) that was not only inexpensive, but also incredibly tasty (try the massaman extra spicy - my favorite!). We loved the star noodles, pik pow fried rice, garlic chicken, and occasionally even some of the appetizers. We may miss Boston, but we ache for Rod Dee!

best thai food in boston. Some of the best Thai food in Boston. Authentic, well-prepared, and CHEAP! It doesn't matter that there's little seating or that the seating there is cramped or that you clear your own dishes because the food is amazing and will have you coming back for more! Highly Recommended.

Popular, pocket-sized outpost serves exemplary Thai cuisine to cramped but thankful Coolidge Corner denizens.. The Scene
Some restaurants have broom closets bigger than Rod Dee's front-of-the-house operation. Six mismatched tables are crammed into what should just be a delivery pick-up window. This is self-service all the way; customers browse dozens of colorful photographs depicting Thai dishes that haphazardly line the walls before ordering at the counter. Service is snappy, but it's an adequate trade-off for the food arriving hot and as ordered.

The Food
Rod Dee serves classic, albeit slightly Americanized, Thai dishes based on curry, noodles or rice and laden with fresh vegetables. The chicken satay appetizer sits in a just-sweet-enough peanut sauce. Pad Thai is a huge portion of tofu, egg and peanut-laced noodles, neither too soggy nor too spicy. The menu is not short on spicy offerings-the drunken chicken is soaked in a chili sauce that will light anyone's eyebrows on fire. However, the staff happily adjusts spice levels to each diner's liking.

THE GREATEST!. I've had Thai far and wide but never found a better value than Rod Dee. The ingredients are high quality, the prices are low, and the flavors delightful. Try the curries!
