Cool Private Room for big parties. Not bad.. Not bad.. We went there on a tuesday to celelbrate 3 birthdays (mine and couple other friends)!! We were around 10 people, so, we requested their private room.. That was nice.. We were left to ourselves for the most part..

For the food part, we got some Sake (cold), seaweed salad and Miso soup for appetizers.. The Miso soup was really good.. The salad was OK... No great shakes.. and the Sake was also OK..

Then for our main course, I ordered theri pineapple and fried swee potato maki roll and it was surprisingly tasty.. Just the right amount of tangyness from the pineapple and crunch from the sweet potato and ofcourse the pickled ginger and soy sauce provided the "sushi" taste to it..

Some people also ordered a "Sushi/Sashimi" boat, which wasn't bad either..

Their service was nice.. They seated us as soon as our party got there even though we were a few minutes late.. When some of us in the party got their early, we were offered some hot tea while we waited for the rest of our friends.. That was a really nice touch.. There is also a huge bar area with nice couches and all to wait in..

Would I go there again? Sure.. Like I said, we were there on a tuesday, so parking wasn't really a problem.. I could see it becoming an issue on fridays and saturdays..

Like all Sushi places, it was on the expensive side, but, I didn't care.. It was my birthday, so I wasn't paying ;-)...

Something's happened with this place..... I lived in Boston from 1999 - 2002 and during that period I went to this restaurant several times. Each time was a great experience - fantastic sushi/sashimi and nice waitress talent that made the meal even more satisfying. I returned just last Friday and things are very different and I don't like what I see. To start, the hostess "team" (there were 3 people standing there) are useless. First, they don't understand English at all, which is a bit strange in Boston. I asked if I could park in front of the restaurant since no meters were present and all I got back were blank stares (from all 3). I repeated my question 3 times and still no response. So, not getting an answer, I just walked around to the sushi bar and plopped down. The waitress was very nice. I sat there, had a cold sake and the sushi/sashimi lunch. Not once during the entire meal did one sushi chef make eye contact with me, greet me, give me a taste of something, say goodbye, nothing. There were 3 chefs, the place was empty and they stood there staring at the ground. Usually when you sit at a sushi bar you can at least expect to have some level of service from the chefs but these guys clearly don't want to be there. Now, to the food. The miso soup was just ok, the salad was not great and the sushi/sashimi were above average. I agree with a previous post that I was very turned off by the size of the tuna sashimi. I received 3 pieces each a half-inch thick. I actually gagged trying to eat one so I took the rest home and sauteed it quickly just to be able to get it down. Shouldn't have to do that. As I read through all the reviews, it's clear something happened around 2003/2004 that changed this place. Either their success has spoiled them or they have new, and not appreciated, management.

Sushi lovers welcome!. I was recommended to this restaurant by a co-worker of mine and since have told others to try it out. I finally got an afternoon off of the busy brunch service of where I work and ordered take out from them. They took my information in a professional manor, repeated back what I had said to ensure the information was correct and told me it was to be one hour for my food. 27 minutes later my food arrived. I felt just like a kid in a candy shop opening up my bag of take-out. HUGE platter of sushi, hot delicious soup, and a garden fresh salad. I had to stop myself from eating the soup and salad so I could save room for the main course. As to no suprise I couldn't finish all of the food but will be a great snack for later. I would hughly recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi!

WORST SERVICE!. I had bad exprienceS with FUGAKYU, especially in DELIVERY sevices.!!! this restaurant doesn't have a professional management at all(the employees cannot speak english fluently and also I need to repeat 4-5 times so that they could understand)..First, I ordered for delivery and gave all the informations CLEARLY to them, unfortunately, they had a problem with one of my information, and they did NOTHING! i was waiting forr 2 hours!! Second, my friend ordered me a delivery from fugakyu and he paid the foods by phone. 30 minutes later, the driver came and asked me for a proof. I called fugakyu and told them that my friend wasn't in my house and he just ordered it for me and I called my friend to confirmed it AGAIN, but they still don't care and forced me to use my credit card and charge me, instead of my friend's credit card. What a service, huh!!

I am very disappointed with the service and the fact the food is STANDARD. So, find a BETTER japanese restaurant with A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE...(Douzo, O ya, Oishii)!

Offensive service attitude+ below average food quality= FAILED. Totally disappointed with the experience at fugakyu, I don't want to pick a nice waiter/waitress just like to win a lottery, I don't want to spend money to beg their smile, and I don't want to be an actor when someone filming me while I am eating, I am get enough to be a idiot, and I am curious why they are still existing in there, WEIRD.

bad food, bad service??. NOT when i last dine there with my husband. waiting time was just right considering the size of the restaurant. after a long walk around to the 3rd floor, we were seated at a four person table and was greeted by our waiter .Our dinner was served after about 15-20 minutes after our waiter describe their specials for the evening. He recommended us a sake flight that blend very well with our apps and sushi and to get our sashimi thin slice for only 1 or 2 dollars more. fresh sushi and very tasty dessert. i recommend green tea tempura ice cream. Our check arrive after a pleasant dinner and short conversation with our waiter. He kindly ask for our valet ticket and our car is ready to go outside. We would recommend to make a reservations for the third floor. Nicely decorated, great food, professional and polite services . We will return in the future!

Over-rated. Average sushi. Tasting menu disappointing. Will not go back. Much better sushi is found at Oishii in south end or Haru.

Definitelly not worth the cash. Im a pretty avid sushi eater, and I have been to Fugakyu upwards of 15 times. I think I go back for the abuse! The service is not exactly friendly, and they get pretty annoyed when you ask them about their specialty rolls. On a few different occasions I have had not so fresh fish, and the Shabu Shabu is certainly not worth the cost. I don?t have a problem paying for good sushi, actually there is a restaurant t in Medford, Yoki, that is very expensive, but its great, at Fugakyu this is not the case. It is extremely overpriced, and they have a bad habit of seating people on top of each other. I think I return each time hoping that it will live up to the hype, but it never does :( - skip it!
