“If you have to wait, there is a really fun little bar to the left where you can order some exotic cocktails while you wait for your table.”
“Dessert was excellent, being the Tempura ice cream.”
“Great service, great food, great drinks.”
“have lived in Japan, and I can vouch that this place has wonderful sushi!”
“This place always has the best and most interesting selections.”
“Fugakyu is great for a place that offers all of japanese cuisine, just not for the sushi.”
“The fish is extremely fresh that it makes it hard to go back to cheap sushi.”
“One setback however is that they recently raised the price and the waitstaff may or may not be friendly depending on your luck.”
“The service is recommended, but the food was NO way worth it!”
“Wonderful service but long waits.”
Nice place, very quaint seating arrangement and the food was pretty good!!
Great Food! Great Service. Great place to meet after work- Great Sushi, appetizers, and conversation opportunities. Always a welcoming smile. Fun in the bar too- bartenders Michael & Mike know their drinks, the menu and the current (Boston/NY) sports scene. Always a pleasure to visit and dine! Must reccomend!
Don't believe the hype.. I've been to Fugakyu twice and I've eaten sushi from many different restaurants in many cities. Fugakyu is the only place where I've actually become sick from eating sushi. First, I think their sushi tastes pretty good which is why I went a second time (I thought getting sick the first time was a fluke). Specifically, I like their rainbow maki, ebi mango maki, lobster maki and spicy tuna. Their oyster tempura maki and volcano maki are just okay. I've tried a few others but can't remember them right now. Second, I like the layout and decorations of their restaurant. Try to get a private booth, otherwise you'll be sat at a table in a small room packed tightly with other tables. Third, I dislike the service. The servers aren't very friendly and they're very pushy. This is not the type of place to enjoy your time as they are looking to turn tables as soon as possible. Also, we went to the bar to get drinks while waiting for the table and the bartender totally ignored us. Fourth, the lobster sashimi is not for the feint of heart. They cut the lobster's tail and claws away from the body and place the head at the top of the dish. The lobster is obviously dead, but its nervous system is still working and it was really weird eating this lobster's raw meat while its severed head continued to move. Fifth, I can't say why I've gotten sick both times I've tried Fugakyu but it's happened and I will never go back now.
Good sushi.
I've been to Fugakyu several times and have always had great service and good food. The sushi is very fresh. It is a fun restaurant to go to with both small and large groups. They have several different seating arrangements from the bar to small tables to larger seating areas with screened doors (highly recommend for groups!)
My favorite dish to order is the Makimono Combo with three types of rolls. I also love the edamame and miso soup to start. I have gone with friends who have ordered several different items (sushi, teriyaki, and katsu) on the menu and everyone has been very satisfied.
Terrible service. We were told there was a 30 minutes wait for a table so we went to the bar for a drink, $9 per glass of wine, after a few minutes two stools came free at the bar so we put our drinks on the counter and sat down - the bar man, Mike, put his fingers into our glasses and took them, when we called at him he just slid the drinks back to us and said sorry! we asked could he replace? And he jsut again sorry it was a mistake - he eventually replaced what was left in the drinks! When we wanted another glass he would not serve us, he got super aggressive and asked us to leave. We called the manager but she just vindicated his actions! It was a shocking experience and would never return.
loves it. most of my first dates with a boy end up here. i am always recommending it. it's nice inside, and the food is awesome. service can be good or awful. one time she didn't check back on us at all, and i had to order another drink through a different server. last week, went there the service was awesome. bill was 50 and my date left a 20 dollar tip. worth a try though.
Go away!!.
Too expensive and not worth for it. Ripped off

best sushi in boston!!.
Well, actually, there might be better, but this is one of the best i have eaten in the area.
the slices are really thick, and the fish are really fresh.
i always take my friends out here, and when i was in high-school, i use to come here for lunch during my free-blocks at least three times a week!!
the interior is really elegant, and this restaurant was actually shot a few time in films.
pretty cool place
Best Japanese food in New England. I've eaten at Fugakyu at least a dozen times by now and have never had a bad experience. On off nights there's never more than a 10 minute wait, if that, and Thurs-Sat nights the wait is never as long as they say it will be. The most I've waited is 25 minutes and that only gives you an opportunity to check out their fabulous bar with its trendy but unpretentious atmosphere and 2 flatscreen TVs. The service is attentive but no-nonsense and the food is usually served quickly and as soon as it's ready. If you want your mind blown you must order the spicy tuna salad. Trust me. You'll go back for more.
Bad service, average food.
The staff hardly speaks english nor can anyone decipher what they are saying. The food is average to good but with sky rocket prices. The wait is long.
All the good reviews are from people who like "fancy" rolls , I prefer sashimi and plain ol' good service with a smile.
Go there once to experience it and then head over to oishi for Excellence
