Rude waitstaff! – Hi, I had a Groupon I needed to use. I went there and was truly disappointed. I had my heart on a southwestern type salad, and they were out of avocado!! Argh! I had the veggie burger instead. Too much bun and not enough patty.
The tables are on top of each other. I'm average size, not anorexi, and not fat, and I had trouble squeezing out. They have those half booth half table type set ups.
If you're looking for average food, and less than average service, CCC is the place to go!!
Rude an unprofessional wait staff & manager – My mother and I tried to go there on Sunday morning for breakfast/lunch around 11:00am. The restaurant was not crowded. We found the hostess and manager rude, immature and unprofessional when we asked them not to "split" a table near the front, middle and next to a family of 8 with 2 fussy babies. We left and will never go there again even though I live down the street and used to be a regular. The owner needs to train the staff in respectful customer service.
Nachos! – I have only had like two things from here but they keep me coming back time and time again.
The first thing is they have a great beer selection. I love beer cold and on tap and they got it.
The second is their nachos. Man oh man. The first time I went here with my brother we ordered these. Now I am about 210 lbs and my brother is about 220 lbs so we ordered the full order of nachos. The server then told us a half order would be enough but we insisted we could eat a lot. After she made us submit we went with the half order and its a good thing we did. There were a lot of nachos! The cool thing about these nachos is that they layer the cheese so almost every chip has something on it.
Also to add to one of my experiences there, there was a trivia question about hockey and the winner got a piece of mud pie. Well we won and got free dessert. Score!
I like this place and it's one of the few good bars in Brookline, my hometown. Holla!
Great for Game Night – If you want a big freakin' burger in Brookline, look no further: the Coolidge Corner Clubhouse is your destination. Most of their burgers are 10 oz - their spicy Big Papi burger is even larger at what I believe is a whopping 16 oz. Me? I had the Ted Williams; 10 oz of beef patty with melted cheddar, mushrooms and bacon, served with a side of curly fries. Deeelish, and enough food to give me two dinners. My burger was so large I had to squish it down just to make it fit into my doggie bag!
The Clubhouse has a massive menu, with pages devoted to appetizers, salads, entrees, different types of sandwiches (there are at least 3 portobello mushroom sandwiches!), and burgers. Their beer list isn't anything to sneeze at, either.
With all the sports memorabilia and flat screen TVs on the walls, it's a great place to watch the game - but don't wait too long to try to snag a seat, because it fills up fast on game days!
Go there Monday Night – The Monday night trivia is fantastic as the moderator keeps all contestants on their toes. Pretty much the entire bar participates. Great place to watch a game and the menu goes well after midnight. I attend a convention in Boston every year and always make it to the CCC for Monday.
I love the CCC! – I've lived in Brookline for the past 4 years, and I have to say this place is one of my favorite places to hang out. There are so many tv's you can keep up with multiple games at the same time (like the Yanks and Sox). The food is sooo good, which can be surprising for a sports bar. I love to stop here after a night of drinking since the kitchen is open after 1am. There are so many draft beers to choose from, I get something different everytime I go. But don't worry if beer's not your thing - the marintis and cocktails are yummy too (and huge!) The Southern Lemonade is my personal favorite; I had never even heard of sweet tea vodka. The best part though, is the staff. They are so friendly, always ready to chat or help you decide on what to eat or drink. I see some negative reviews on this place, but it sounds to me like these people are just miserable with life - I've never had a bad experience here and would highly recommend it!
best food and drinks in town – I found the reason that this place has been in business for over 20 years. The value is tremendous. The drinks are huge and the food portions are huge. They keep there entire menu available until 115 am every night... Wow!!! The brunch on sat and sun is second to none. They have over 20 hi-def tvs. This place is great.
very good food, decent service, terrible drinks – The food is really great, but most the food in Coolidge Corner is. This is better than most
HOWEVER: Not a place to drink: Only one of the 22 year old bartenders can make a drink to save her life (she has glasses and is the only one who looks like she ate dinner). They forget ingredients, don't know types (not brands) of alcohol and have no sence except that they are the boss; which works for them in this monopoly on the bar scene for an area desperately in need of another bar to replace 1 of the 20 failing sushi restaurants.
The other day my friend ordered a martini with a twist. Mind you, it was 60% sweet vermouth, the twist was a 1/3 of a lemon, meat and all dropped into the glass.
My advice; good ice tee or order a beer or something straight or on the rocks and make sure to say ice or you may end up slurping sidewalk.
What a (unty horrible place. – So I roll into this dump late afternoon on a Saturday with a lady friend of mine. There are loads of tables open and the "hostess"(aka girl watching football while talking to you) tells us there is a ten minute wait. After about five of those minutes go by and I'm staring at all these empty tables i ask her why we can't have one of the empties. She says they are reserved for parties of 3 or more. I said are there reservations? She says no but since we are a small restaurant they are reserved for parties of three or more. I tell her that's not going to work and that we'll be taking one of those tables. We go and sit down and the manager comes over and asks if she can help us with something. I tell her I'd like some menus because we intend on eating there. She says the tables are reserved for parties of three or more and I say well there is no one else in this place its nearly dead and well past lunchtime and no one else is even coming there. The lady I was with asked me if we could go somewhere else, the horrible (unt of a manager followed us out of the door.
What is wrong with the manager??? – This place is the most ungrateful unprofessional business I have ever witnessed. I just went there tonight with my friend, and we have been going there every other week if not every week. We in general have had great service and average bar food quality. Tonight we had one of the worse waitress and it wasn't the first time we encountered her. She was incredibly rude to us and basically threw the menu at us as well as the plates. I do not like to feel like I am bothering waiters... I am a customer and I am sorry if they are having a bad day but we all do at some point.
The manager came chasing us down the street to ask us about the reason of our unhappiness and was tremendously rude. She said we were the one being rude and that maybe this is not the right place for us to come and have dinner. What kind of manager does that??? I am in business and believe me this is NOT the way you treat customers. Especially when they are the ones being disrespected in the first place.
I am desperately looking for the name of the manager because obviously this manager was hired for a pretty face but certainly not for her big brain... I am quite influential locally and believe me, I will do everything in my power to make that manager go down, and if this place does not get better reviews, I hope that people will be going elsewhere.
As one of the other reviewer said, this place IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY OR INTEREST. It is a waste of space in Coolidge Corner which is such a nice and friendly area. You are better off going to Zaftig's or going down on Brookline Village to the Village Smokehouse. Much better service there...
I hope you people listen to all the bad reviews out there because they are all meant to protect you from having the bad upsetting experience I just had. Cheers to you all anywhere else but CCC!
