Atmosphere? Other than a fish tank, there's not much to look at. Service? Speedy waiters prefer to be seen and not heard. Why, then, do so many Asian-American families make the trek here to Brookline Village? The answer lies in this restaurant's plates of julienned jellyfish, sliced beef tendon and other Sichuan delicacies. Diners weaned on familiar favorites like kung pao chicken aren't disappointed with the kitchen's dependable interpretations. Nor are patrons who enjoy spicy Sichuan cuisine (over half the menu is marked in spice-denoting red). Standouts include tender rabbit (served with a…

Lousy food
by irena spivak at Citysearch
Lousy food. Very greasy, Very spicy, totally tasteless. They put spicy pepper oil into all dishes and everything tastes exactly the same. Certain ingredients are missing from the original Sichuan cuisine, so I would not even call it "Sichuan" just very spicy Chinese food. Also this place seems to have a habit of overcharging customers: They "conveniently" forgot to bring us 2 dishes, but later on same dishes "magically" appeared on our total bill. Never again!
Decent food, but digusted by the waiter!

We went there yesterday for authentic Sichuan cuisine because this place was highly praised by other Chinese and Zagat.
It was around lunch time. We were the only table there. The dishes we ordered were fine, (I would recommend it). However, we were pretty neglected after order was taken and dishes served, which means the waiter did not check on us after wards at all, we had to go to them to make additional requests, because he was sitting in another room wrapping dumplings, surely we were not happy about it.
After all, we just gave $3 for a total bill of around $50 for little service. What pissed us off was the waiter came after us questioning why there was only $3 and telling us that it should as least be 10-15%! Excuse me! Don't be ridiculous! For that kinda service? I would be happy to pay 15-20% if we were treated with more hospitality, why would you expect good tips if you are not doing you job?! He should be happy that he still got some tips!
So don't count on the service, if you don't plan to pay the waiter some good tips, be prepared for solicitations!
- Pros: Pretty authentic tatse
- Cons: price a bit higher than other restaurant, waiter has problem
Spicy Chinese food

Sichuan Garden is a great place for authentic chinese food without having to head into Chinatown. Lots of heat but they will accommodate if you want milder versions. Some of my favorites are Spicy pork with cellophane noodles, the eggplant in garlic sauce, and the chengdu dry hot chicken.
- Pros: Authentically Spicy chinese dishes, vegetarian options
- Cons: Ambience is lacking

Worst experience ever! Ordered 3 items for pick up, when I picked it up they charged me for all and give me only 2. When I came back all the way from my place it was obvious that they knew but never called me to let me know. They refused to give me the missing item and give me bad attitude like I was the one that did something wrong.
Seems discriminating but actually arrogant

JESUS christ, I was FURIOUS. I've been there many times b/c I'm Chinese and have always loved spicy food. Usually I'm there w/ my parents, and on a few occasions service was--lacking. They ignore you. Other times the food was really good, and I didn't feel service was bad. But the LAST time I went with a Caucasian guy, I thought maybe they were mad at me for dating someone not Chinese? Or that I showed up during lunch when they try to make money off white people? I was so offended, 2 waiters unsynchronized asked if i was done after maybe 15 minutes, took my plate before i was done, gave me my check while i was eating, never smiled. The place was empty. Not like there were people waiting, only like 4 other ppl eating.
When I inquired about a pork dish I had before, the waitor replied rudely "I dunt know what you are talking about" and shrugged his shoulder, as if to say, "that's not my problem." Oh, I had to ask for chopsticks, b/c they only put out fork and knife out. It's becoming less and less authentic, and before I left I let the waiter know how I felt. I can't believe I felt discriminated against by my own people. I'm writing a terrible review for them too for my Journalism class.. never going there again.
