“I'm from San Francisco and there are a lot of great reataurants there and great chinese food also but there isn't a chinese restaurant that has great atmosphere, great late night bar til 2 AM and great martinis like the Golden Temple.”
“The Stoli Doli drink is the BEST I've had.”
“Excellent service, great food, and plenty of it, are the very hallmarks of this restaurant.”
“One the owners likes champagne so the list is extensive and reasonably price The service is great and they know me by name and remember what I eat and drink.”
“Granted, it's a nice, fancy place with good atmosphere, but neither my wife nor I were very impressed with the food.”
“The service leaves a lot to be desired as I've never encountered a friendly server.”
“Combine high prices and bad cooking and you have a recipe for a "place to avoid.”
“Golden Temple has long been a favorite of mine.”View Less
hot spot for all, esp(only) hot cougars.
This place for food is great. they havea gret luncheon menu and there are always plenety of people here. At night they turn the bar up, serving great drinks at reasonable("Boston") prices and with a
DJ gets everyone happy, drinking and dancing.
Was once known as place to get a false Fendi, Then a hot late-night spot for BU/BC kids. Now, in more recent times has turned to a hot spot for Cougars to play with all of the above. Dress nice, this isn't a cheap Chinese place, the interior is gorgeous. Only negative is many many times I have been there the servers are sleeping in the booths which creeps me out…
Perfect pricey Chinese for the parents. I love suggesting Golden Temple as a meet-up for when my parents come into town. While the food is delicious, I definitely wouldn't be able to afford it on my own. The service stands typical to the Asian stereotype... not exactly the best, but hey, as long as they're not spitting in my food, I guess I can't complain! The lounge is wicked cool, after a certain hour it's 21+ but try to check it out if you get there early.…
Solid chinese restaurant, bit over-priced. I've been to Golden Temple half a dozen times over the past two years. I go because I can't find another option in the Newton/Brighton/Brookline area. I've tried several dishes and they're all pretty good, but a few dollars over-priced per menu item. The service leaves a lot to be desired as I've never encountered a friendly server.…
Worst Customer Service Sub Par Food. I was very excited about ordering take out from Golden Temple because I had read good things about their food and was looking for a healthier option for Chinese food in my area. I sincerely regret ordering from Golden Temple. First they messed up my order sending two orders of egg rolls instead of the scallion pancakes we had ordered. When I called to inform them of their mistake they said they now saw they had accidently not charged us for another item we had ordered so they would bring us the scallion pancakes along with a new bill, including an additional charge for the item they hadn't charged us for originally. After getting over my shock at their horrible customer service and telling them not to bother coming back I tried the food that they had actually bothered to deliver to us. It was much less healthy than I anticipated, dripping with grease and overall just okay, nothing better than the local take out. It is very over priced for what it is. They need to actually offer a healthy product and decent customer service if they want continued business.…
Used to be good. No Longer..
Formerly a very decent neighborhood destination.
Driven to ever lower quality in food, ambiance, and service over the last couple of years.
Hard working but hopelessly overwhelmed servers and kitchen staff.
Food reasonably priced, with very large portions, but much of it tasteless glop. One hint to quality is the relatively few Asians and even fewer Chinese you'll spot amongst the dining crowd. If your idea of Chinese food is a bucket of of Colonel Sanders, or McDonalds filet-o-fish, piled high on a plate with a heap of hot and sour sauce on top, this will be nirvana for you. Take your place in line. If not, take your appetite elsewhere. Still packed on weekends and holidays. Especially popular with young people aiming for a cheap dinner date, who either dont care about quality if everything is super-sized, or dont know the difference. They cram as many tables as humanly possible into each room to accommodate them, with all the charm of all-you-can-eat-night at IHOP.
I guess that qualifies as a kind of success story.…
