Editorial Review for Golden Temple – by Gerrish Lopez
The Scene
With a stylish, modern dining room and a trendy bar/nightclub area, Golden Temple stands out among typical Chinese restaurants. The setup of the restaurant caters to all types: couples, large parties, and party goers. The extensive menu appeals to a range of tastes, and the powerful and exotic drinks keep the party going in the discotheque-style E Room. Whether serving dinner or drinks, waitstaff is always respectful and accommodating, willing to alter dishes by request.
The Food
Golden Temple is consistently placed among the best Chinese restaurants in town. While prices are on the high side (for Chinese), the portion sizes of most menu items--from the traditional General Gau's chicken or beef and broccoli to to deep-fried chicken livers and ginger-garlic littleneck clams--are well worth the cost. Flavors and sauces are light and subtle thanks to a focus on fresh and healthy ingredients.
Hits
Outstanding service, exceptional choice and a focus on freshness keep the Golden Temple experience at or near the top of the city's "best of" lists for Chinese.
Misses
While half of the dining space is separated from the E Room, the sounds spilling from the dance floor the DJ's turntables may be a bit loud for some.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasGolden Temple delivers with prompt service late into the night.
When to GoEvery night at 9:30pm, a DJ gets to work in the E Room; a mix of young and old revelers fill up the bar area to grab late-night bites or drinks while others dance like its 1999.

The Golden Temple is a fun place, giving locals an light alternative to heading downtown. That said be WARY - on the 'dance floor' part the wait staff seem to help themselves to 5% tax on the hand written bill given to you. This is very effective on the inebriated patron. The guy even had the audacity to tell me that he was correct. I had about 3 receipts from the night - 2 without taxes, and the last one with. Strange coincidence - NOT!! So, have a blast, but be wary when paying your tab. Needless to say, upon further questioning, my bill was them recalculated because of the slight 'error'
Pros: convenient for locals
Cons: you have to be alert otherwise wait staff will rip you off
