“like the atmosphere here, I would recommend it if you wanted to take your parents out for casual dinner or something.”
“the food is only fair and it is much like any other chain "not great but not that bad”
“cannot believe with all of the choices in great Italian restaurants in the city, that anyone would nominate Vinny Testa's.”
“nothing makes up for the fact that the food is bland and the place caters to people who think that McDonald's is a great place to take a date if you want to impress her.”
“don't know how people say this place is great.”
“vinny testa's is know for serving huge portions of pretty good italian food.”
“Service is slow, food served luke warm, overpriced.”
Good but not great..
Good food. Large quantities.... nothing special if you ask me. It does have good value, as I had 2 other meals from my one visit.
Service was friendly. I would go there for cheap Italian... for great italian go to the North End.
Good. I like Vinny T's on Newbury so I gave it a try here as well. I ordered what I always order, the linguine with white clam sauce. I loved it~ My friend had the same thing in red sauce and that was really good too. I like the atmosphere here, I would recommend it if you wanted to take your parents out for casual dinner or something.
A favorite of area families and hungry tourists, Vinny T's delivers gargantuan portions of straightforward Italian fare in kitschy environs..
So long as there are families in search of kid-approved Italian fare served family-style, Vinny T's will remain profitable. Few patrons look up from their troughs of pasta to notice the faux-Italian decor (checkered tablecloths, pictures of Italian-Americans icons like Frank Sinatra). Solo diners, a rare sight because of the portion sizes, flock to the hospitable bar area where there's always a game on the TV. Pleasant servers try to maintain straight faces when delivering laughably large pasta platters.
As one might expect, the restaurant sacrifices quality in favor of quantity--expect too much pasta, not enough meat. Most items are available in two misleadingly titled sizes: "per uno" (enough for two people) and "per due" (enough for four). While decent steaks and chops are offered, most everyone wisely sticks with pasta dishes like lemony chicken piccata and rich lasagna. Desserts (try the creamy, reasonably authentic spumoni) are equally humongous.
Vinny T's in NO LONGER Vinny Testa's!.
If you haven't been to Vinny T's of Boston, formerly known as Vinny Testa's, then you're in for a pleasant surprize. Not only have they changed the name, but the food quality, presentation, ingredients, and overall cravability has improved dramatically. Not to mention the service and the overall welcoming, friendliness of everyone you encounter. Before posting one more word about Vinny T's - You should really give them another try. It's not the old Vinny Testa's you remember!
Enjoy! This is one great Neighborhood Italian Restaurant!
Faux "Fast Food" Italian. What a huge pile of garbage. True, they give you enough food to feed an army, but who wants to eat any of that overcooked, preheated slop?? Anyone who is worldly enough to have tasted REAL Italian food wouldn't set foot inside Vinny's. Although I suppose if you eat McDonalds all the time and think Chili's is real great Mexican ""fine Dining" then you'll probably be happy as a pig in, well......whatever at Vinny's. Don't waste your money. If you are craving BAD Italian food go buy a can of ragu and a box of pasta....it's better than Vinny's!
We have the north end. I cannot believe with all of the choices in great Italian restaurants in the city, that anyone would nominate Vinny Testa's. Nothing against it, I think the food is ok, you definitely get a lot for your money but, come on! This is not one of the best in the city.
not worth rating.
If you want stereotypical, run of the mill "Italian" food, this is the place to go. Big servings sold cheap.
There's nothing wrong, per se, but there's nothing that makes Vinny's even the slightest bit interesting.
Not so great. Had high hopes since I had heard good things. I wasn't impressed. Big plates of pasta doesn't necessarily mean good food. Almost any eatery in the n. end beats it.
McItalian and the curse of supersizing.. At best this popular spot makes up for quality by almost killing you with quantity. It is a shame that "a lot" of food equals a good dining experience, don't get me wrong if I haven't eaten in a week and I feel the need to strap on a feed bag I am on my way to Vinny Testa's. Although the space itself is fun and inviting with a family feel seating style this is not the place for intimacy. Drinks good.
Stolen Umbrella. Had been here once before and food was decent. Came this time with my family. Waiter at first was very good, halfway through the meal, he disappeared. Came over with desserts we never ordered. Worst of all, valet stole my new, rather expensive umbrella. Restaurant first told me manager would call and never did then when I called him I was told the valet service was private. Couldn't get a straight answer nor my umbrella. Will not be returning nor would I recommend.
