Editorial Review for Giacomo & Rondi Salon – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Rondi Nail Salon and Giacomo Hair Salon originally existed in separate buildings, before those locations were dismantled to make room for the new Commonwealth Hotel. Combined in a single unit just a few steps away from Barnes & Noble at Boston University, Rondi & Giacomo boasts a sleek, trendy setting (stark white walls, attendants dressed all in black) and a welcoming staff that stands in stark contrast to the snobby tone set at other salons.

I went here for a haircut after reading the good reviews and it looks like a nice place. I told the person cutting my hair that I've had x haircut for over a year and I like it, but I want something different, maybe something funky but whatever my fine hair can do. I mentioned a special occasion coming up and wanting to look nice for it. She spent less than 30 minutes on my hair, including a wash, and gave me the same f-ing hair cut I said I was tired of AND did it rather poorly with very few layers and none in the back which I had before she cut them off. She burned my scalp with the hair dryer. The hair cut was awful and boring and flat. I walked over to borders and cried in their bathroom. It wasn't styled at all. I shouldn't have left unsatisfied and shame on me, but I've had very few professional haircuts in my life (I'm 24) and I have no idea how to tell a professional that it isn't any good and I didn't want her to "fix" my hair since she couldn't do a simple cut. When asked if I liked it, I said I wish it looked bigger or something and she made no changes. ... I hated this place and will NOT go back. I guess I'll go back to Leebra's on comm ave.
Pros: none
Cons: bad haircuts, employees don't listen to you.

I can't speak to the hair services, as I have never tried them. I do not like the work I see being done while I'm there. BUT, Lisa gives the BEST manicure I have ever had in Boston. I have tried all the "top" salons and she is the best. I hate the ambiance of this place; it's not relaxing as it should be; it's loud and the staff is very chit-chatty all the time, even talking about clients in front of the customers. But I'll still go to get the perfect manicure.
Pros: Great Manicures
Cons: Terrible Atmosphere; Bad Hair Services
