“The ambience isn't even that nice, and the food is over-priced for what you get.”
“If you want authentic Hong Kong dishes, this place is the ONLY place to go in Boston.”
“The service was also amazing.”
“Hong Kong Cafe is great if you need to satisfy a quick chinese food craving.”
Tried it once, won't go back.
I love how some posters claim that since they're asian, they should know what good asian food tastes like. Um, no....maybe your mother was a terrible cook - sorry, it simply doesn't work like that.
I tried this place because I love dumplings (steamed ravioli). This restaurant is among the many area restaurants that use frozen dumplings from a supplier called the "Chinese Spaghetti Factory" in Boston. To be blunt, they are disgusting. Pork seasoned with chinese five spice. They're nasty. As a dumpling lover, I can honestly say that this place couldn't pay ME to eat their dumplings.
The general gau's chicken was decent and way off at the same time. It was edible, and I finished the whole thing, but it just wasn't right. Again, too much five spice. Who cooks with that anyway?
Bottom line: won't go back - not going to waste another $25 to give them a second chance and try something else from the menu. Can't fix those dumplings no matter what you do.…
For people who like REAL chinese food. I'm Chinese, so I know what real chinese food should taste like. No, this is not your regular greasy chinese take-out joint. If you want authentic Hong Kong dishes, this place is the ONLY place to go in Boston. The food is delicious, not greasy, properly prepared!! Come if you want REAL chinese dishes! The service was also amazing. The waitress was very polite and the host was so nice! I highly recommend this place.…
Yummy Takeout in Howard Johnson?. Don't let the seedy motel facade throw you - this Chinese food is the best takeout in Boston. Our standard: Crab Rangoons, Boneless Ribs, Shrimp Wonton Soup, Kung Pao Triple Delights. Beware you don't confuse it with the bad Chinese in Kenmore square of the same name! This restaurant is behind Fenway Park, in the Howard Johnson's hotel!…
What's all the hype about?. I have tried basically every Chinese restaurant in the area and this does NOT rate in the top. The ambience isn't even that nice, and the food is over-priced for what you get.
