Editorial Review for Sorento's Italian Gourmet – by Eric Grossman
The Scene
Candlelit tables, warm-hued walls and an airy open kitchen contribute to one of the Fenway area's most comfortable dining atmospheres. The restaurant enjoys a loyal clientele of young professionals and graduate students. Friendly, accommodating servers keep water glasses and breadbaskets filled, even on the sidewalk patio (a favorite of Red Sox fans looking for more than a pre-game hot dog).
The Food
Sorento's kitchen covers its bases by offering something (something Italian, that is) for everyone, from pizzas to pastas to freshly filled cannolis. Given the reasonable prices, menu quality is impressively high. An exceptional house antipasto--a heaping platter of vegetables (marinated and roasted) and meats and imported cheeses--is a satisfying meal in itself. Sun-dried tomatoes, pignoli nuts and asparagus conspire to make Sorento's exceptional chicken Parmesan. If it's available, finish with a slice of delicate, not-too-sweet tiramisu.

Insider Tips
Save TimeKeep an eye on the baseball schedule; when there's a game down the street, the whole area becomes a mess and parking is nearly impossible to find. Stay home and take advantage of the restaurant's free, limited-area delivery.
ParkingDon't be tempted by the giant Burger King parking lot across the street--many a car has been towed away.

Dinner with friends. Fab location. Easy parking cuz no Sox game. Friendly staff. Food was top notch. Highly recommend Chicken Marsala. So different from usual dish. Sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes makes the sauce YUMMY! Generous portions. Highly recommend calamari apptz. Sauce was great. Only con was the overall temperature in the restaurant. Kinda hot with the sun beating in thru the windows. But the staff was quick in refilling the ice water! Small cozy restaurant. Expect to be sitting close to your neighboring diners.
Pros: food and service
Cons: warm in the restaurant

Great pizza and fantastic wine. I wish the owner recise the schedule posted because it says they serve until 12:00 am (midnight?).... so not true!!! If you ever call five minuets after eleven... good luck because they don;t even want to pickup the phone. In the remote probability they do pickup the phone, they will tell you IT IS CLOSED. Other than that, the food is very decent, good rpiced and the wines are good.
Pros: Great Pizza
Cons: Questionable service, they close before the posted schedule.
