Editorial Review for Cornwall's Pub – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
Don't be fooled into thinking that this pub's location--next door to the Boston University bookstore--makes it a college bar. Cornwall's pricey pints of hard-to-find British ales and $5 plates of fries lead BU students to congregate elsewhere. The roomy layout, with lots of tables, is perfect for lunch or an after-work drink. In a city full of Irish bars, Cornwall's is a truly British pub (there's not a stitch of green to be found).
The Draw
Cornwall's is a good place for conversation over a few pints. Finding a seat is rarely a problem, save at peak lunch and after-work hours. Beer aficionados enjoy a selection of about 80 bottled beers from around the world and 20 more on tap, including hand-pumped British varieties like John Courage, Old Speckled Hen, and Fuller's ESB. The menu features passable interpretations of pub favorites like Shepherd's pie and fish and chips.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoWhen the Sox are playing down the street at Fenway, things get pretty crowded; avoid game days if you're claustrophobic.
The ExtrasBored patrons can pass the time in Cornwall's side room, where there are three pool tables.
Where to SitWhen the weather's nice, decamp to the small patio seating area and enjoy one of Kenmore Square's few outdoor drinking spots.

OK, I remember Cornwall's Pub to have great beer, good food and most of all remind me of home. Now, unfortunately, I have had lunch in there for the first time in 3 years and I have to say it now is way below par. I ordered my usual, Tetleys (on draft), but the head was about 2 and a half inches and it was so cold that it had no taste. The fish sandwich (St. Ives Fish Sandwich) was so small it looked like a tiny tilapia fillet, breaded in breadcrumbs that tasted like they had been fried multiple times and there was the skimpiest amount of fish between the breadcrumbs. At least the fries were OK. Sad to see such a good place go down hill. Ah well.....
Pros: Reminds me of a true British Pub, at least one in the City
Cons: Food below par, service mediocre, Good selection of beer but badly poured, not kid friendly

I've been here a few times, once as a part of a large crowd and a few times just with a couple other friends. They have a great beer selection and the bartenders are helpful with recommendations. Waitress was extremely friendly even after we told her we were only having drinks. This place is intimate enough early in the night for a casual dinner with a few friends but also huge selection of board games, darts, and pool tables in case you get bored. Rumored to be a favorite among BU faculty, definitely worth checking out if you like a casual night and don't feel like dressing up.
Pros: Ambience, Service, Drink Selection
Cons: Parking
