Fried Clams, by the water (sort of). A work friend and I were craving fried clams recently. Given that we work on the waterfront, this a thankfully easy craving to give into. We chose Yankee Lobster for its closeness to the office, available seating, and not being the Barking Crab. When we arrived the place was jamming, a good sign for a little lobster shack in a part of South Boston that's pretty dead when nothing's playing at the Pavilion. The service is pretty perfunctory, but the whole-belly clams (get out of here with those strips!) were salty and perfectly battered, the slaw was light, and there was malt vinegar for my fries. It's a bit of a pity that a restaurant so close to the water has its outdoor tables on Seaport Boulevard, but for a lunch time treat this was pretty grand.
