Cathay Rocks – Great food, great drinks, and great music. The bartenders are very accomodating, the bands are always original and the people are a blast to hang out with. My personal favorite band is the Ronnie Lewis Expedition.
Karaoke is great here – I am a HUGE fan of the karaoke (and the DJ-Dave) I think the karaoke is very professionally done. The host is incredibly personable and the crowd is GREAT! BUT...Although I love the food, I am very unhappy with the service. The last time I was there, although we had at least 40.00 worth of drinks and 35.00 worth of food on our table...the policy of the restaurant is that NOONE on the karaoke side will be served glasses of water. I felt extremely disrespected as a patron. I mentioned that alot of people like to wash their food down with water and was told that I should eat in the restaurant if I want water with my food. Enough said for me as far as respect goes.
First Class expierence – I usually go to the Cathay Pacific for the great entertainment. The Karaoke is the best I've ever been to. The host is wonderfully entertaining and extremly talented. The singers are world class. I decided to try their food and found it was top notch. I've become addicted to their Peking ravioli, and everything else is a delight to my pallet. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. Service is great. I'll be going back every oppurtunity I get. Parking is ample and lighted. For a snack or a meal, great food. For entertainment, the best around. As a group or on a date, this is the place to be for a fun filled evening!
Worth the trip! – My wife and I traveled from Cape Cod on a Tuesday evening to enjoy the Karaoke entertainment in Cathay Pacific's lounge. It was worth the trip! We ordered a Pu Pu Platter which was out-of-this-world. Having read some very negative reviews on this website we were prepared for the worst, but were ultimately delighted with the atmosphere, food, service and value. My wife is confined to a wheelchair which was easily accommodated in the lounge. The Karaoke show was very professionally run, and the singers who performed contributed to a most enjoyable evening.
Absolute Crap – I agree, this food is NO good. all bark and no bite. big fancy restursnt, little over-cooked food. the people there are quick to get u in and out and thats all, with no good food to back it up, to start, the pu-pu platter was mediocre. over cooked chicken fingers and burnt ribs. then the entre was SO unflavorfull i almost sent it back... only to realize the replacement couldn't be much better. 3 words... Don't even bother :(
Just out of the CAN! – Sure, the outside is pretty cool, with stone dragons and a roof reminiscent of Chinese architecture, but... the food is just plain awful! The LaChoy food that's sold in a can in the supermarket is MUCH better, because you don't have to wait forever to sit, forever to get waited on, forever for your food to come to you... get the picture? For something that's a bit more authentic, try the Thai restaurant "Little Duck" which is right down the road in Quincy, past the Quincy Center T stop. There, the food is fresh and delicious, reasonably priced, and the people are glad to see you. Bon Appetit!
BEST FOOD – THE BEST CHINESE PLACE IN THE BOSTON AREA
great place no place like it in boston, go to quincy for the food here
Service could be better and the crowd is often insolent, doesn't have a classy ambience at all but it IS the place for GREAT food
Definately best eggrolls in the Northeast
