Inconsistent.
On a good day this is my favorite restaurant, on a bad day I am overly disappointed.
The only reason I keep going back is for the chance it might be a good day.
The service is terrible and the several times I have ordered take out there has always been something wrong with the order.

Wonderful food.
I have the same general bit as others: fantastic food, lamentable service. The margaritas, chips&salsa, and any dish with mole are to die for. The service - not so much. The last time my fiance and I were there, having sat almost a half hour with our menus, gave up on the opportunity to order more food, left cash on the table for what we'd consumed, and split. It's not for lack of empathy - I waitressed for many a year. But if you approach it lightly and have some time to sort of marinate in the essence of the restaurant, the food is well worth the wait. Any Mexican food lover needs to try it at least once.

Great Margaritas!.
I am sort of a Mexican food snob after spending many years in Southern California where Mexican is a staple of the diet. After reading the reviews I had high expectations, perhaps too high, for Jose's. Upon arriving we were seated quickly, though we had a reservation. We had to ask the waitress to bring our chips and salsa because she apparently forgot about us, but then again she was quite busy. The chips and salsa were great which does set a good tone for a Mexican place. Next we ordered some pitchers of margaritas which were very tasty, average priced, and not super strong (a negative to me but positve for others). I ordered the fajitas, usually a safe dish to order as it is hard to mess up. As expected, the fajitas were decent, not amazing or large, with the only complaint being that I asked for flour but recieved corn tortillas. The dishes my friends got also tasted good, but I wouldn't lable any of them as the best I've had, even in Boston. Despite all of the semi-complaining in the above paragraph, my friends and I are already talking about going back again, if for no other reason than to get the chips, salsa and the margaritas.

Great Food, Poor Service.
Jose's has incredibe food. We moved to Boston two years ago from Southwest and have only found Jose's to be authentic mexican food. The margaritas will knock your socks off, but they're a little pricy (~$10 each!!). We love it and go back often. But beware, ther service is very slow... you often have to ask for water refills or remind them you ordered your drink twenty minutes ago, or flag someone down to pay the bill. But the food is worth it... Try their chicken mole enchiladas, chips and salsa (I think it's home made!), and sopapillas. Delicious!!

This little spot has it all. They have the best "chile rellenos" that a have ever had in my life!. I also have tried their enchiladas with mole sauce. The people is so happy and friendly. But best of all, they have the best margaritas in Boston. Be very caution 'couse they are strong...My favorite is the authentic... look no farther than Jose's.

Editorial Review.
Mexican specialties including chile rellenos, enchiladas and tamales, plus tall margaritas and dozens of tequilas available by the shot.
