Not what I had expected. Hard to find parking and the show was very weird but not a bad time all and all but not what I had expected.
My wife has a bad leg & 3 floors up was a lot. We wish we had enjoyed it as much as the comedians. I of the comics was amazing but over all they were to weird.
Won't See Me There Again.. I thought the show I saw at the Comedy Studio was a bit too edgy. Also, there were too many comedians during the show. It got pretty boring and seemed to drag on all night. I won't be going back to the Comedy Studio; the show I saw wasn't worth the money I spent on it.
Great comics but help keep it a secret. . .. I just moved to the area from Philadelphia and have been looking for a good comedy club and boy was I pleasantly surprised by what I found on the top floor of a Chinese food place in Cambridge! They regularly display quality talent, the crowd is smart and appreciative of good comedy and the guy who produces the shows- Rick, really knows how to handle a crowd (even if his jokes aren't killing). It's a smaller place with picnic-like tables set up for viewing but it just has such a different and better feel than many of the crappy comedy clubs I've been to in the past. They also showcase a variety of talent from comics who are just getting started to quality veterans that have been on National television. It's not the most traditional of venues but it's a good one and well worth checking out if you are wanting a good laugh.
Harvard Square's popular comedy venue allows patrons laugh themselves silly while polishing off some moo shu pork..
In Short
Thursdays through Sundays, the third floor of Harvard Square's Hong Kong Restaurant becomes the best place to catch some of the area's rising comedy stars. Thursday nights feature political comedy, while Fridays showcase the alternative comedy of P.S. Absurdo. Saturdays feature mainstream headliners and acts, while Sundays are open to newcomers as well as sketch comedy groups.
Boston Comedy Scene's Best!!. This place is the best to see a bunch of comics and not have to spend a lot. There will be some bad and some okay comics, but there's always a few really funny guys that make it all worthwhile.
Hilarity Foo Yung. Not much to say for the food, but the Comedy Studio above the Hong Kong Chinese restaurant in Harvard Square has some of the funniest comedians around. We went there this past Saturday night, and laughed oour butts off over a delicious scorpion bowl. The most fun is to be had in the front row where we sat, opening ourselves up for jabs from the talent, which we received in abundance. Not everyone is as funny as one might like, but when you laugh, you laugh hard.
