Editorial Review for Ryles – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
Ryles is partly responsible for the artsy/bohemian image that clings to this part of Cambridge; the club's outer wall mural has become as familiar a neighborhood sight as the deli across the street. Inside Ryles you'll find a relatively spartan, wood-tabled setting and a slightly plusher large bar upstairs. (On most nights both levels have music, with the larger groups playing the top level). It's a no-frills setting for serious playing and listening. Performers are drawn equally from the local music and national cult-hero circuits.
The Draw
Bigger names drop in just often enough to keep Ryles' reputation strong--but daily, count on catching some of the best local jazz musicians, known and unknown. The upstairs portion of the club features dancing on Thursday (salsa) and Saturday night (swing), and a popular jazz brunch on Sunday. An accessible, affordable menu of smoky barbecue and shareable appetizers keeps the crowd nourished.

I don't write reviews too often, but I had to write one about Ryles, especially since these others don't reflect the experiance I had. I thought their Jazz Bruch was terrfic. Good music, great food and prices. I got the freshly squeezed OJ and the Bavarian French Toast (Stuffed with cream cheese and jam) delicious! I did have trouble flaggin down a waiter, but once I did the service was acceptable. I will defiantely be back and soon :)
Pros: Food and atmosphere
Cons: Service, service, service

I went here to see some Portugese Jazz and it was a nice venue to see a performance. The service was good and bottles of wine were cheaply priced. We only had drinks, no food (other than a simple appetizer). It fills up quickly as it gets closer to the performance time and it can be hard to get a table. The bar is quite large and looked inviting.
Pros: Music performances, wine and service
Cons: Chairs can be uncomfy after awhile.
