Editorial Review for ManRay Night Club – by Citysearch Staff

The Scene
Originally a mild-mannered dance club, ManRay found its niche by experimenting with fetish-themed nights, S&M enthusiasts and the "goth" crowd. If you like to dress up, have read Anne Rice's corpus and have a whip in your closet, ManRay is for you.

The Draw
The club's all-black ambience reflects its preoccupation, as does the recorded music--dark, exotic techno-rock, industrial, and, of course, '80s new wave. The club attracts at least as many art students as hard-core S&M practitioners. In addition, Thursday's "Campus" is gay night, and every second Friday of the month is the infamously gothic "Xmortis," pulling in lots of young Robert Smith look-alikes and other 19+ innocents.

Didn't see much about Thursdays up, so I thought I'd add my piece... With three rooms, it seems like there's something to please most of the crowd. Most of the lesbians like to hang out in the eighties room in the back, while the gay men seem to gravitate toward the techno-ey beats of the front room. There is also a lounge that is a bit quieter in the front, and the bartender there sure knows how to mix his drinks!! You'll see a pretty mixed crowd here, but don't expect straight men on Thursdays.

Pros: TVs, Dancers, Music

Cons: Hot in the front
