An oasis of affordable elegance in the midst of Central Square.. Sidney's Grille is an oasis of affordable elegance in the midst of Central Square. Located at MIT?s University Park in the upscale Le Meridien hotel, the restaurant features innovative new American cuisine. With its ultra-modern decor, high ceilings and beautiful bar with marble counter tops, Sidney's immediately makes diners feel pampered. And then there?s the delightful and well-presented dishes. Appetizers like the three-cod New England clam chowder and the seared sea scallops with lemon thyme sparkle. Favorite main courses include the mouth watering striped sea bass with sweet corn and leek ragout; the sesame crusted ahi tuna with gingered sweet potato; and Sidney?s strip steak with roasted garlic. A little off the beaten path, Sidney's Grille is truly a hidden gem that is one of the best kept secrets in Cambridge.

Excellent Thanksgiving dinner 2007. We visit our student daughter for Thanksgiving and this is a great place for dinner. Excellent quality and not over priced like so many places on Thanksgiving.

MUST VISIT RESTAURANT.. The restaurant definitely has its own charm in the town.We visited yesterday for easter and it was one of the most pleasant experiences we had. The server was attentive and made sure my table always stayed upto date. The Brunch was just superb, both the food and its presentation. Then finally while leaving the manager helped us locate a cab & also printed me directions to the neighbouring malls. The restaurant was well lit up and lively with some fun music. I feel its defintely worth making your way to Cambridge. We had a wonderful time !!!

Food was just ok. My brother wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday, and I picked Sidney's grill because it's near our house and it is rated as having the "best salad" on citysearch site. The dining room was very nice. On this thursday night, however, at 8:30 we were the only guest in the huge dining room. I am not sure if it is because they are not attracting many people or it is because this was the Christmas weekend.

The food.. It was really not all that impressive. The chowder was good. The rock shrimp was too salty and the scallop was not very special. Lamb top.. terrible dish. There was no Wow factor in this dish. Not flavorful enough. Overcooked. Messy plating. I would not recommand this restaurant. The service was also just average.

Great appetizers!!!. Sidney's was recomended to me by a friend of mine. My husband and I had dinner on a Saturday night and were pleased to discover that the restaurant wasn't overcrowded or too loud. The room is stunning and modern - very high ceilings. The coctail list and wine list were interesting and had a good variety. We had the scallop and avocado appetizer which was AMAZING! The seabass and the ribeye were also excellent. We didn't have room for dessert - will have to come back again. Our server Wagner was extremely professional and gracious and didn't miss a thing. The meal was moderately priced and still a bargain. I highly recomend it!!!

Great Service & Comfortable Atmosphere. Good menu selection, reasonable priced meals. The bar area is very nice, without being too stuffy - certrainly one of the better restaurant bars around town. Everyone there is friendly and accomodating. It's a bit tough to find, but worth the effort.

Clam Chowder to Die For!. On a vacation trip to Boston, our party of 5 arrived on Friday night at 7:30 PM in February. The restaurant was not crowded, so it was disappointing that service was not faster. However, the food was very good, a little pricey, we spent on average $40.00 per person with before tip with no alcohol. The Sirloin was very good, as were the scallops (but only 4). The Salmon was very flavorful and the potion was a nice size. I was informed that the credit card processing machine is "ancient" and the cause for it taking 15 minutes to run our credit cards, so unfortunately we missed our cab. Surprising that the computers associated with this MIT hotel restaurant are not up to date. So, the food is good, but service when we went was not timely. Suggestion: Make sure you get the chowder.

Delicious Dinner in Cambridge. I had been to Sidney's for a business lunch and was interested in returning for a more relaxed dinner. We were pleasantly surprised. Had a cocktail at the bar and then were seated. My husband had a delicious steak and I had salmon. Attentive service.Another highlight was the chocolate dessert -- creative presentation.

Horrible, do not go here!!!. My dining experience at Sidney's Grille was amongst the worst that I have had. My girlfriend and I had decided to try dining there before a movie at Kendall Square. Upon arriving, there was nobody at the hostess stand, and we waited several minutes before anyone showed up to take us to a table.

During dinner, the service was extremely slow and unattentive. Even though bread plates were present on the table, no bread was provided until I asked (when the entrees arrived). My girlfirend ordered the special 3-course prix fixe menu of the evening. She was given the wrong salad, the wrong steak, and they were all out of the prix fixe dessert. So, of the 3-course menu, none of the items presented were correct. The steak also took several minutes to be corrected. Even with these mistakes, the management and server were fairly non-apologetic. I had the impression that they really did not care to provide a good dining experience.

Even worse than the mistakes was the service. The arrival of the courses were extremely slow. Several times throughout the evening we wondered if the waiter would ever show up with the food or even the check. What should have been a simple meal ended up taking 2.5 hours. By this time, the movie in Kendall Sq had already started and our plans for the evening were ruined.

My advice, do not go here. There are many far better restaurants within the Boston/Cambridge area, you will be much better off to dine at one of those.
