Won't Go Back. Very disappointed. We wanted to celebrate my son's 19th birthday and we each got the buffet. They brought around different meats all TOO dry. The roast tasted like it had been boiled the ribs had absolutely no meat on them they were all fatty. The chicken tasted like sand. When we complained we got a big attitude from the manager. The table next to us also complained that the food was not very good. We were given a 20% discount. We gave the extra 20% to the waitress who did her best to make us happy. When we were at the door, about to leave, the manager , who was inappropriate, came over to us and shoved a piece of meat in our faces and said that the meat was not dry, and that we were prejudice and only trying to get a free meal. He told us to never come back.

Believe me, we will NEVER go back!

Poor customer relations.

Almost forgot we had to return the soda, they were watered down.

tourist trap. awful. tomatos were full of BUGS!!!!! the chicken w okra was cold, fries were overfried and darken. Beer was not cold. meat was dry and the meat cutter was only one to handle the whole restaurant. dont waste your bucks cuz this is NOT the brazilian experience , this is not the brazilian rodizio. this is a tourist trap. the waitress was a tiny cape verdian looking miserable. felt bad for her! she was probably an explored illegal immigrant getting 2 bux an hour. dont waste your time and money

not impressed at all - disgusted. Dec 18, Sunday cold afternoon. Decided to go for the Brazilian experience. What a disappointment! Rest was packed , most of the clientela was complaining. salad bar food was awful, only ONE meat cutter for the whole rest, meat was dry and very salty. I had to chase down the meat cutter over the greasy floor of the restaurant. it was dirty. our brazilian waitress was great, very beautiful and extremely friendly. I went to the restroom and I saw the cook YELLING at her over a computer issue that clearly the old man didnt know how to use it. later, I learned that this man, named John Pinto was the owner of the restaurant. Clearly, a man w no diplomacy , rude, lack of education and uninspiring. I felt bad for that waitress. the 18% gratuity was included in the check but I gave it more than that. The waitress made the difference. the restaurant and meat - not impressed at all! Not coming back!!!!!

the worst restaurant experience in cambridge. This was the worst restaurant experience in Cambridge we've had; the place is dark and gloomy,; the buffet food old (the iceberg lettuce was brown and yellow) the meat was chewy, chicken tasted bad..

service mediocre; valet was $10, they added 18%gratuity.. and charged for refills on soda. For the price we paid, we could have gone to a decent resaurant..save your money..

Sadly disappointed. I have wanted to try the Midwest Gill in Cambridge for a few years but never seemed to get the chance until recently. I cannot express how disappointed I was: the buffet foods were ok but nothing special but, the main reason we went was for the grilled meats - they were bone dry, hard to chew and some didn't taste right. We received all the meats advertised, no rolls until the end, but they were not good. There were no sauces and even the salad bar lacked dressings. We will not be returning - I just wished we hadn't had to spend so much money to find out how their quality seems to have gone downhill

Great Restaurant!. I love this restaurant. Not only is the food amazing, but the servers are friendly, there is good live music and the place itself is very warm and welcoming. The buffet is always beautifully decorated and there's a large variety of food to choose from. The meats come to your table sizzling straight from the grill. After having all you can eat you would think it couldn't possibly get any better.. and then the desserts come around! They are so tempting, my husband and I just had to try one. We didn't regret it! I definitely recommend this excellent restaurant, the experience is unforgettable!

Poor service, burnt offerings. I went on a Saturday night with my family. Friday and Saturday nights they charge $4 more per person, so I was expecting this to be a "good" night to go. The place wasn't busy, but we were a little early (around 5:30 or 6) so we didn't take this as an omen ...

Our server was definitely "low class", she spoke with a pronounced "urban" accent, always came to the table wearing a pair of greasy plastic food service gloves, and provided mediocre service throughout the night. She would be better suited behind the counter of a McDonalds that providing table service at a family restaurant. It was clear that it was an inconvenience to her to have to serve customers who were obviously keeping her from more important tasks. It was difficult to keep our drinks filled, or have our soiled plates/utensils removed as necessary. When not at our table, she was frequently heard griping with the other waitstaff about how tough her school schedule was ...

As for the food ... the things on the hot and cold buffet were decent. However, they didn't bother to keep the labels correct for the food that was on the steam table. They also didn't seem to think it important to keep food segregated. What was once simply a tray of french fries, later in the evening had a whole bunch of sausages dumped upon them. Guess there wasn't room for them to have their own tray.

Finally, we get to the "main event" of the barbeque food brought out on skewers. Service here was very slow. We often spent long periods of time with empty plates waiting for the next food item to be brought around. However, our long waits were eventually rewarded with almost universally overcooked and dry food. Rare meat didn't exist ... if you were lucky you MIGHT find something with a little pink left in it. The chicken dishes were almost universally overcooked to the point that they were dry as sawdust. I was offered beef ribs that were lumps of charcoal barely clinging to a bit of bone. They even saw no problem bringing blackened "garlic bread" to the table. I use scare quotes because I could only tell it was garlic bread because the told me it was.

There were two offerings that were decent ... the chicken wrapped in bacon, and the leg of lamb. The bacon-chicken was actually not overcooked. The leg of lamb was well-done, but still had enough moisture left to enjoy the flavor. It must've been fantastic if I could have gotten a piece that was medium-rare.

Finally, the people bringing the barbeque food also seemed to grow impatient if you took more than 1 or 2 pieces of what they were offering, and also didn't seem to like that I was asking them to try and carve off the less overcooked bits of the cremated meet they were offering.

Bottom line ... scratch this place off your list ... go somewhere (anywhere) else.

Used to be great, now, just dissapointing. I've been to Midwest Grill on several occasions (and numerous churrascarias throughout the US and in Brazil). At Midwest grill, it seems that the quality of meat keep getting worse and the attitude of management and owner is even poorer. The meat had a fair amount of fat and gristle. The salad bar had noticeably fewer options than on previous visits. On my most recent trip my party was charged for refills of ice tea and soda. When the refills were ordered there was no mention from the server that there would be any charge for the additional beverages. They pull the same trick on dessert as well. Upon getting the bill and seeing the extra charges, the waitress attempted to assist by asking the manager who then offered to take one round of refills off the bill. However, the owner then came by an insisted that ALL restaurants charge for ice tea and soda refills and that the charges must stay on the bill.

The sirloin and pork loin were excellent. The chicken was dry. We had to ask five times to get garlic bread.

For future ventures for mass quantities of meat, I will take my business to one of the other Brazilian restaurants in the Somerville area.
