Editorial Review for Midwest Grill – by Eric Grossman
The Scene
Patrons can usually spot this restaurant by looking for the families waiting on the sidewalk, counting down the minutes until they devour enough meat to warrant a trip to the cardiologist. Popular with the area's close-knit Portuguese and Brazilian communities, the twin restaurant features dining rooms with a festive, multiethnic vibe--and soothing live Brazilian music--nightly.
The Food
Those familiar with the Midwest Grill's all-you-can-eat rodizio format know to bring a hearty appetite while leaving the vegetarians at home. Most patrons forgo the limited menu of traditional Brazilian dishes (oxtail stew) in favor of the rodizio, in which an endless procession of affable waiters deliver skewers of various meats to each table, carving as many slices of tender beef, chicken, lamb, pork and sausage as patrons permit. Also included are unlimited trips to the intimidating hot and cold buffet tables full of smoky black beans with pig's feet, roasted vegetables and various salads.

Insider Tips
ParkingAfter 5pm, there's free parking in the Shell gas station lot down the street.
The ExtrasDon't be scared of the rodizio's chicken hearts. Delicacies in Brazil, the chewy, salty, peanut-sized hearts are full of protein.

I usually go to Greenfield at Allston, but since they shut down, I went to this place to check it out. The food is less salty here compared with Greenfield but the quality of the meat from Greenfield is just uncomparable. The meat wasn't tender at all, I had to chew hard on their beef. No skirt steak (the best stuff Greenfield served). No italian sausage, only kielbasa. The beef ribs was also below avg, Greenfield's was much better. Cocktails were OK....service was OK too. The best part was the guitarist singer, he was pretty good. The food? I'll pass...

There are a lot of fans of "meat" on here. But anyway... It can sometimes be inconsistent at Midwest but my wife and I have been going there for almost 10 years now. And it is most assuredly on target most of the time. To say anyone in that place is rude is crazy, and that they are stingy??...Its all you can eat how can that be stingy?? One tip is that it is better to go later in the evening when its busier...the meat is coming out quicker and can be a bit better. hopefully the Saugus location will be a succes for them
Pros: friendly, fresh food, low stress
Cons: loud, sometimes cramped seating
