Tips for Christina's Homemade Ice Cream

Craziest ice cream flavors in Cambridge/Boston.. Bostonians consume more ice cream per capita than in any other city in America. And Christina's satisfies their frozen treat sweet tooth by offering over 50 flavors daily from a stock of over 300 varieties. Favorites include burnt caramel, adzuki bean, licorice, and orange chocolate. Owner Ray Ford draws inspiration from his spice shop next door to create other one-of-kind flavors like honey lavender, lemon-thyme, rose (made with real rose petals), and chamomile. All the ice cream is homemade, creamy, and fresh, and many diners at nearby restaurants skip dessert and wind up here to top off their meal (Christina's irresistible frozen chocolate mousse ice cream is better than any restaurant dessert). They also make crazy flavors for local eateries like Mexican avocado ice cream for nearby Ole, goat cheese ice cream for Hamersley's Bistro in Boston, and seaweed sake sorbet for the East Coast Grill.

Great Ice Cream Treat. Homemade ice cream with interesting flavors. There were so many that captured my interest that it was hard to settle on one. I went with Banana Cinnamon, it tasted just like a muffin. They give you quite a bit as well, especially when ordering with a cone (I was surprised). It's a busy place, but the line moves along quickly. Not enough seating

Rude service but great icecream!. The icecream was delicious and the flavors were varied and unique. However, the service was rude. The place was not busy at all and yet it took several throat-clearings and "excuse me" before any of the three employees asked us what we wanted. When I made it to the register, I had barely received my change when an employee with a broom pushed me aside and told me to move, rather than asking nicely as one would expect. I tend to like to be able to gather my things, put my change away and move away on my own before being shuffled off in such an inconsiderate fashion!

Nice dessert after going to HAVELI. I come here for the oreo or cookie dough after a delicious dinner at Haveli across the street, if I've not already had one of their homemade desserts.

This is where milk and cream go to heaven. This is by far the best Ice cream joint in the city. Try at least the Burnt Sugar ice cream or the Maple Walnut and you will be a believer. Its so good its orgasmic.... almost.

Inman Square's haven for award-winning ice cream.. The Scene
Ice cream lovers of all stripes make their way to Christina's for a taste of one of its 40-plus homemade varieties. On busy weekend nights, lines often stretch out the door, even in December. There are only a few tables, so most patrons have to make do licking their cones on the sidewalk. Many visitors skip dessert at neighboring restaurants to come here for a sweet finish to their meal. Scoopers are helpful in explaining the many unique flavors (what is adzuki bean?).

The Food

Sure, the chocolate and vanilla varieties are excellent, but the real draw is the astounding variety of flavors. Depending on the day, you'll find such offerings as blood peach, khulfi (cardamom and pistachio), licorice, gingersnap cookie and green tea ice creams. There's also a number of sorbets and hard frozen yogurts to choose from. Rich hot chocolate is a popular wintertime favorite.

quality and attitude.. Christina's ice cream is fantastic. I couldn't pick a favorite. The bad part is that I think you have to have a horrible attitude to work in Christina's. The rude you are, the better pay? Customer service is non existent here. I wonder what the owner thinks. I have stopped going to this place because there is no way I am going to pay to get harrassed.

Delicious and Delightful. Wow! The best ice cream I have ever had, ever! Words cannot explain. Truly homemade premium goodness. I've had pumpkin, cinammon rice pudding, and carrot cake and I will keep going back for more! You must try it!! I went on an empty winter night, but I would stand in line outside in the cold rain if I needed to!

Green tea ice cream at its best. Green tea ice cream is a rare find in Boston, esp that of good quality and flavor. The one here is very comparable to Chocolate Coyote's green tea ice cream in Madison WI. Also, this flavor is available at Christina's everyday, unlike Herrell's which doesn't carry it all the time and has limited flavors.

Lastly, their ice-cream cakes are perfect. I've ordered a couple from here for friends' birthdays and never have disappointments. Not $$ too.
