Watermelon colors--light green brick walls and dark pink windowpanes--brighten the interior of this subterranean Cambridge alley hideaway. Harvard intellectuals and folk music enthusiasts young and old, seated at tables and in chairs lining the perimeter of the room, enjoy the local and national singer-songwriters and bluegrass acts who take to the small, elevated stage. Sound levels are crystal-clear for such an intimate space. Pieces by local artists adorn the walls, deepening the friendly, folksy vibe.

In addition to its roster of established and up-and-coming acoustic and roots musicians, Club Passim also offers music-related classes and workshops, a regular calendar of free cultural events for kids and a public folk music archive with hundreds of photos, records and memorabilia. Vegetarian Planet, a cozy, on-premises vegetarian pizzeria, offers patrons a chance to enjoy healthy fare while enjoying a performance.

Decent little place. I've only ever been to open mic night, but that is always a fun time (tuesday evenings, with a small cover but worth it). The place is small-medium sized, but has a nice atmosphere. Great place to have a cup of coffee with a date or to just have something to do on a weekday night.
