The Scene – All day long there's seemingly a steady line of customers at this West Cambridge pizza shop. The crust is freshly made, thin and crisp. The sauce is light and slightly sweet with just a hint of oregano. Toppings never overpower the other ingredients. – – The Food – Submarine sandwiches are overstuffed on a soft roll. (Try the eggs and pepper--and ask for a slice of melted cheese on top.) The pasta in the ziti plates is slightly overcooked, but the portions are huge; choose between meatball, veal or chicken Parmesan, sausage or eggplant. Homemade lasagna is…
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- Spots in this heavily residential neighborhood are hard to come by. Bring along a friend to wait while you double-park.
- Know Before You Go:
- Remember to stop by that ATM before grabbing your pie--the restaurant only accepts cash.

great pizza and awesome place to go
if you don't have cash and aren't sure where to find an atm, there is one across the street in sarah's market
- Pros: everything
- Cons: hard to find parking a lot of time
Excellent tasty hot sauce and cheese and crust

We return to Armando's even though it is not the closest good pizza joint, because it is so outstanding. Perfectly cooked thin crust pizza with flavorful sauce and toppings. Order ahead, go there, and eat it at the (busy noisy) store, which has a few small booths, while its hot.
- Pros: great thin crust, generous tasty ingredients and topping
- Cons: well, its a pizza joint --primarily take-out

Forget the fancier artichoke and goat cheese pizza places (Emma, I'm looking at you) - go to Armando's for terrific basic pies. The cheese is generous and drippy, there's grease (no, don't wipe it off) on top and a good crust. And the slices are large.
By the way, the picture on the wall of the street in Italy is actually the street where Armando grew up. So they say, anyway.
- Pros: Great pizza
