Best seafood restaurant around!. Went to Dolphin a few weeks ago on a Friday night looking for great seafood & found it! This place gets my vote over Summer Shack any day. The steamers were so sweet & tasty! The clams casino were perfect - not drowned in bread crumbs. I actually had a tough time deciding on an entree - there's such an array of options. I settled on grilled shrimp - delicious! My guy had the Rainbow trout Cajun style - it was seasoned just right, had kick but didn't overpower the fish. The atmosphere is very laid-back & the staff is friendly. If that didn't make this place great already - the total on the bill did. Talk about value for your money! I am already looking forward to my next visit!
Great value for your buck seafood and relaxed atmosphere.
We checked this place out on an early Saturday evening and there was only a short wait to seat 4. We had a beer at the bar and then sat. The food quality and taste were better than the prices suggest. Service was fast and friendly. It's a great place if you like simply prepared seafood and are looking for a easy going dinner out.
Don't forget the baklawa for desert!
Best Seafood and Value in all of Boston!!!. My parents have raised me on seafood at a very young age. Well, growing up on Martha's Vineyard I guess it's understandable. So many restaurants right now feel like it isn't seafood unless you absolutely destroy the fish with all different types of spices and sauces. But then again, if you're clueless about seafood then you wouldn't know any better. I'm writing this review for the sheer fact that there aren't many (if any) seafood restaurants that prepare fish like they do at the Dolphin! There should be more of them around! No b/s fish with tons of flavors hiding the true taste of the fish! The Dolphin serves it right, fresh, with God's given taste. That salmon I had with garlic & parsley was absolutely amazing! But the portion was too big! I don't eat that much. The waiter came to me and looked concerned as to why I couldn't eat it all and I told him I was full. He mentioned that a lot of customers say that. 14 oz of salmon is a lot of food. And for only $14? That's a bargain any day! You know what, just go in and you'll see what I'm talking about. 2 thumbs up!!!!!
One of Cambridge's best kept secrets, located between Harvard and Central Squares, provides locals with fresh, affordable seafood dishes..
The Scene
For Cambridgians of all ages, the Dolphin serves as a go-to spot when the mood strikes for swordfish kabobs or lightly fried haddock. The small bar's flat-screen TV keeps solo diners company, while collegiate couples gravitate towards the minimalist dining room's window tables. When not reciting the catches of the day, friendly waitresses deliver selections from the exceptionally affordable wine list.
The Food
Citing the freshness and portion sizes of the seafood used, not to mention the fact that entrees come with a choice of vegetable and potato, most diners experience sticker shock--of the positive kind. From simple, satisfying fish and chips to complex dishes like sea bass baked in savory marinara sauce with fresh basil, the lengthy menu includes almost every seafood preparation style under the sun. Adventurous types shun broiled Boston scrod in favor of Louisiana catfish served spicy Cajun style. Leave room for light desserts like tart Key Lime pie.
Best Seafood in Harvard Sq.. Delicious seafood...reasonable...friendly service...great apps and drinks too! A must go! Good shrimp, salads, haddock etc.
Bad Meal, this place is horrible in a city known for seafood. The waitress was nice, but the fish wasn't fresh and my almond crusted salmon came out with burnt almonds! The swordfish my wife had was decent, and the RI calimari was ok, but the food didn't all come out together (granted we had 12). There is no atmosphere and this has to be one of the worst places in Boston. I went based on some reviews here and am sorry I did.
Awful!!. This is my worst dining experience in the US. The seafood served didn't taste fresh at all. The waiter spilled ketchup on my shirt. He simply brought us a glass of soda water and did nothing. I will never try this restaurant again!!
No Comparison! Best value in Boston!. My wife and I went to the Dolphin in Cambridge and had an amazing night. It was our date night which started and ended perfectly. We had a nice romantic window seat overlooking mass ave which is a heck of a lot better than overlooking a wall. We shared a nice bottle of Chilean wine and then opted for the almond crusted salmon. It was cooked perfectly. The portions were so big too! Definitely not expensive at all. I don't know how they do it. I highly recommend
Well-priced seafood. Although the various seafood dishes that I and those I dined with ordered were delicious, it was not even close to the best seafood in town. Nor was the atmosphere at the Cambridge location anything to rave about. What Dolphin Seafood does have going for them is fresh and good seafood for a good price. This is not the place to take guests or a date to if you are trying to impress them but rather is a good place to go for decent seafood at at good price.
Fresh. I love there food and thier second location in Natick is even better.
