Fantastic sauces make this a must for any pasta lover in Boston. Worth it for just that alone. Service isn't great, nor is the location or ambience (if it wasn't so well-known, it'd be a little cheesy with the pictures and fake grapes). They haven't missed on a pasta dish yet, and the antipasto is sublime, so forget about all that. Carbonara is spectacular, as is arrabiata and alfredo.

Il Panino is a true neighborhood institution. It offers large portions of good, fresh food at reasonable prices and attracts a wide range of customers - from academics to cops (there are always cops, don't park illegally in front). The staff often knows customers' favorite orders. Like the previous reviewer, I love the Il Panino sub, with its savoury proscuitto. This place is definitely worth a try.
