Editorial Review for Grafton Street Pub & Grill – by Eric Grossman
The Scene
Young professionals and area workers fill Grafton Street's cavernous dining area and spacious bar, where huge windows look onto Massachusetts Avenue and are opened when weather permits. Pleasant waiters, many of whom carry heavy Irish brogues along with orders from the bar, navigate the sloping dining room. Libations lovers select from a well-stocked bar that includes several hard-to-find brews.
The Food
Grafton Street's menu of stylish comfort fare is perfect for diners in need of a simple snack or a more fulfilling meal. Typical starters include panko-crusted Maine crab cakes (with chipotle remoulade) and steamed mussels in a savory white bean and fennel stew. The "lighter fare" section of the menu includes Dublin-style fish and chips, rosemary lamb tips and a grilled Angus burger. Serious-minded diners opt for entrees like pepper-rubbed tuna steak with wasabi mashed potatoes or pan-seared duck breast that's served over sweet potato risotto.

I went here recently with my wife Kate and we had a blast. We sat at the bar and shared a few appetizers and had a few drinks. The bartender Paul was hilarious, worth going back just to watch him in action. The food was atypical bar food in the sense that it tasted very fresh, and that someone actually put time putting together rather than just throwing it on a plate.

Besides the food being amazing, I love love love that the outdoor patio opens up to Harvard! What a great scene - a little piece of Boston history in your line of sight while enjoying a lunch or dinner. There's always an interesting mix of people as well - everyone from students, to professors, to regular working people. The crab cakes and the Pear Salad are delicious, and the butternut squash risotto is SO GOOD. I always have trouble making a decision when I eat at Grafton Street!
