I don't have any children, my two goldens are my babies. I've tried a few local places with lackluster results. Nothing tragic, but just not great. Anyway, I now bring them to Toureen. They go on Riverwalks, and also get playtimes. They are always happy to go in, the grooming is always great, and I have seen the same person running the place for the past 4 years. (I know he has been running it longer than that, 50+yrs, but I have only been using them for 4 years.) I drop of bedding, toys, special food, and medications with my dogs and nothing has ever been incorrect. No lost toys, I always get clean bedding back, and the meds are administered properly. The biggest standout is that they know my dogs' names. As soon as we walk through the door, I let the leashes go and they run right in the back. A very safe place, with a caring staff.

Our cat is a very fussy, noisy tabby who takes a while to warm up to new people. When we have had to go away she stays in boarding kennels and we have tried a number- she has really hated some (one grim place she came back with bits of fur falling out and zits!!!). We eventually tried Toureen and she has now been boarding there for 3 years. She really seems to like going there and we always pick her up- her coat and eyes glowing, she looks healthy and she seems relaxed. The staff there are so nice- very easy going and people who look like they love animals. Its on the pricier side for boarding cats ($17 per day) but they have an associated vet and they also do "spa services". They are polite and look like they take great care of the animals staying with them. I can't recommend this place highly enough. They are apparently about to move to a brand new place in Watertown- the brochure looks amazing (they are going to have "kitty condos"!) that is much larger and totally designed as a pet hotel. I think their animal hospital is moving there also. We totally trust them with our beloved cat and are just really happy there is somewhere close by that we can leave her knowing she is happy and cared for. Only downside is the price and the fact they charge you a full day regardless of the time you drop off and pick up so even 4 days can be quite pricy. The place always looks clean but pet friendly, they really know how to handle her and we are going to continue using them when they move to Watertown even though it will be further to drive.

Pros: Clean, well run, good caring pet-loving staff, close links with animal hospital

Cons: Price
