Jim's is famous for a reason! Great deli-style sandwiches, daily specials, and much more. It's cafeteria style & plenty of seating. All the cops eat here so the food has to be good! The Pastrami/swiss grilled on marble rye is to die for! Try any of the daily specials...they will not disappoint. The folks that work there are sweethearts to boot! You will love Jim's a great value & great food!!

  • Pros: everything's very good, friendly staff

Poor service experience

by oniwaka at Citysearch

Got some bad service there today, the kind that compels me to vent in an online review since I was civil about it in person.

Ordered a pastrami sandwich, and all I asked for was a sandwich. They took the liberty of serving it as a "sandwich plate", in other words, they included fries and a pickle and charged me an extra $1.75. Fine, honest enough mistake I guess. However, when I politely told them that all I wanted was a sandwich and not the "sandwich plate", instead of simply removing the fries, I was told by the grumpy old fellow behind the counter "next time order different."

Yeah, ok. Apparently, you're supposed to go out of your way to tell them not to include fries when you all you ordered was a sanwich. Their food is expensive enough as it is that you shouldn't be strong armed into paying extra for fries you didn't want or order.

I also thought it was shady that Jim himself tried to say that the sanwich "comes with fries" when I'm staring right at a menu that offers both a basic pastrami sandwich for $4.75 and a pastrami sandwich plate for $6.50.

Food is good, and Jim is always very nice and courteous, but I thought this was a very poor showing. I won't be returning any time soon.

  • Pros: good food; Jim is nice guy
  • Cons: Overpriced and bad service experience set forth in review
