BC students get favoritism...
I have been to this "greasy spoon" several times and every time I have gotten the feeling that I wasn't being treated as nicely as the BC students got treated. I know it's "Eagles" Deli, but come
on! From the way the staff treats you, to how quickly you get your food, to even the quality of your food: if you are not a BC student these things won't be high quality. Eagle's prime business demographic is the BC kids, so they cater almost totally to these kids.. something tells me these kids are used to being catered to in general.
I've had several bad experiences at this restaurant, I only went because I saw it on TV (yes there is an attitude at this place that says "screw service! we were on TV!) but this last time takes the cake. I place an order there and waited 45 minutes and never got food. I sat there and watched countless BC freshman get their food before me, people who had come in waaay after I did. After an hour someone came up to me and said they forgot my order. I was livid. I had had several other bad experiences of rudeness, arrogance, dirtiness, and unequal treatment before this and I had had enough. So, even though I had already paid I walked out with no food. That's how bad of an experience I had.
I've eaten here before and I have no idea why this place made it on TV other than their larger portions of cheap badly made food. Honestly this place feels like a fraternity where the rich kids get better treatment, like most places in Boston. I'm honestly getting tired of how rude Boston is in general and probably will leave the city soon.…
are you kidding me?. I had been warned prior to eating here that the burgers were no good, "I'd rather have a Big Mac" they cried. Surely, a place that Boston magazine had recognized as having the best Burgers in Boston in 2006 (must have been a slow year for burgers) would be good enough. They claim to be the second best place in the world to pig out, although I'm still trying to figure out what's so appealing about that. Eagles Deli is kind of gross, its a B.C. hangout I suppose, based more on location than anything, although I never really considered any part of Greater Boston a "college area," with the possible exception of Harvard square, but even that is laced with tourists. In any event, the burgers here are bad, and let's face it, there's no effort here, clearly the burgers are pre-frozen, almost exactly what one would find at the grocery store. You know the one's I'm talking about, pre-shaped patties that any "Joe the Plummer" can throw on the grill and look like a real man for "grilling." But they don't taste good, same deal with the fries, also pre-frozen. Like I said, no effort, not even real cooking. The restaurant is set up like a cafeteria essentially, with a few pimply faced college kids filling up the room. Sadly, most people, not just the impoverished co-eds, don't know what a real burger is. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone in Boston does, for that matter. The cheese is unmelted, it comes on a very unflattering bun, with nothing else. If you want toppings you have to ask after it's all cooked, and the line cooks are anything but cooperative. Everything is served on a plate that must be from the '60's, and its just an embarrassment all around. They claim to be World Famous, but how? As I wrote previously in my blog, some places become famous for something, here, its for serving mammoth 5 pound burgers that come with 20 slices of cheese, 20 pieces of bacon and 5 pounds of fries. Hey, the guy on Man vs. Food came here, it must be great! The problem is, they become famous, and then what? Well, they stop caring about the food because it doesn't matter anymore, although I can't imagine a time when the food was ever good here. I have nothing else to say about Eagles Deli, its a greasy spoon, its not good, and I will never come back.…
Good food.
Never was here until yesterday after seeing it on Man Vs. Food. The burger was good, but unfortunately it took a good long while and when it did finally come, the place was so packed, i had 10
hungry customers literally hovering over my table, watching me eat. Not the restaurants fault, but that kinda took away from my meal that i waited 25 minutes for.
Maybe they ought to consider buying out next door and expanding.…
Great food! Great prices!. After hearing about this place I finally got the chance to try it out. The customer service is rude but that's how it's supposed to be at this place. I love it because it's like talking to a friend. True Bean-town! The burger's taste like they came straight off the grill. If you get a chance to try it out........DO IT!!!!…
Boston College eatery is legendary among area students for its cheap eats and gargantuan burgers..
Eagles Deli's epic sandwich list is ignored by many patrons in favor of the restaurant's famed burgers. BC football players are fond of the Godzilla burger, a pound of meat with loads of cheese,
while the Challenge burger (five pounds of meat, 20 slices of cheese and bacon strips) is free if one can finish it within an hour. Crisp fries, sold by the pound, and Cokes (alcohol isn't served) round out most meals.
