Since grocery stores can be a bit far without a car, Johnny's is the best place to find fruits and veggies in Brighton Center. Johnny and staff of 2-3 people work this crowded space 8-6 weekdays and 8-3 Saturdays. They always offer help, and Johnny often will direct you to whatever his best stuff is that day. Every once in a while they'll have something less than stellar, and instead of pushing it, Johnny will often make deals to make you happy, like either cutting the price, or directing you to a better product (and will offer it at the same price!) They also have a shelf of their ripest stuff, which they sell at $1, for whatever they stuffed into the bag, great for same-day meals. Johnny also is incredibly friendly, he come out and says hello to all of us waiting at the bus stop in front of his store every day, even hands out fruit some mornings to us commuters. As someone without a car, Johnny's Market sustains my meal's during the week. Plus, supporting local Mom & Pop's is such a great thing.
Pros: customer service, good deals, low prices, local owner
Cons: small and can be crowded, hours are hard for 9-to-5-ers
