The Scene
The Kells is the biggest and splashiest of Allston-Brighton's many Irish bars, with performance spaces and music both upstairs and down. Its stately mahogany decor gives it an old-world feel, even when it's packed with boisterous undergrads. The club plays host to thirsty Boston College and Boston University crowds--along with any other student types who don't mind schlepping out to Allston-Brighton. A lot of patrons are on the prowl, so it's a good place to go if you're single but looking.
The Draw
Guinness is a staple here, as are traditional frat-boy drinks like domestic beers and kamikaze shots. Popular local DJs spin a variety of original rock, dance music and reggae just about every night, and live entertainment is featured occasionally. Surprisingly, Asian fare dominates the food menu, and fruity Polynesian cocktails are available to accompany teriyaki sticks and pu pu platters.

It's like a frat party with a cover charge. I strongly suspect they watered my beer. It's more or less the most horrifying frat bar in Allston, which is a highly competitive position. Don't be friends with people that go here, they like Dave Mathews.
Pros: none
Cons: it's like an apple bees meets a frat party- with a cover

Doesn't matter what day I go, it's always fun. Great diverse college crowd, always great music and drinks are fairly priced. The dance floor is a good size and there is another one downstairs if the top one gets crowded. Cheap admission, i think ladies usually get in free before a certain time. My favorite no fail bar!
Pros: good music, good crowd
Cons: none really
