What People Are Saying About Mike and Patty's

Blink and you might miss Mike and Patty's breakfast and sandwich shop. Located in Bay Village, not far from Chinatown and the Theater District, this little hole-in-the-wall has a small space (seats 6) but a big heart. Known to those in the 'hood as the meeting place, it serves coffee, espresso, tea, Main Root sodas and tasty breakfast plates. Along with the croque monsieurs, the tortas--piled high with savory meats or vegetables on a seeded sandwich roll--are the standouts. The restaurant's original amuse bouches that they run as daily specials match the space: deliciously diminutive.
The Details on Mike and Patty's
Fun Fact:
Owners Mike and Patty, veterans of South End Formaggio, tested hundreds of different brands before settling on the tea (MEM), their coffee (locally roasted), the soda (GuS and Maine Root), pastries (Iggy's) and sweets (Verna's Donuts), available daily.
When To Go:
Any day but Sunday--their day off. Makes sense, since the tiny space bustles on Saturdays. Weekdays have an eclectic group of neighborhood regulars and there's a friendly vibe.
Know Before You Go:
How to find the lil' guy: If you walk past Tedeschi's on Tremont and turn onto Church Street, it's on the same side of the street.
