This Central Square kitsch emporium is an intentionally head-scratching wonder, with housewares, accessories and apparel of the retro, rockabilly, Viva Las Vegas persuasion.. Well-placed in the thick of Cambridge's hub of indie-hipster-rock venues, Buckaroo's Mercantile dishes out unabashed kitsch and all licks of a retro-flavored lifestyle. Colorful and well-worn, like a wacky bachelor's cheeky den of sin, the spot revels in 1950s textiles, vintage ads and posters, Mexico's Day of the Dead, and plenty of accessories to do with smoking, drinking, or both. Owner Brooks Morris has a great eye for his "modern variety store," and is a knowledgeable conversationalist on topics ranging from Wonder Woman to Campari's advertising campaigns.
