What People Are Saying About Sorelle Bakery Cafe

In Short – Early morning at Sorelle sees a run on steaming, sweet blueberry muffins and buttery, cinnamon-packed pecan rolls. Once noon hits, the kitchen starts kicking out sturdy sandwiches like the far-above-average B.L.T., which layers crisp bacon, red onions, fresh greens and fragrant basil mayo on French bread. The house Cubano oozes melted Swiss cheese, sliced pork, ham and pickles pressed between French bread.
Sorelley Disappointed

I was excited to have a little bakery so close to home, but was sorely disappointed in every aspect of this shop. The coffee was weak and sour. The pastries looked like a combination of PTA bake sale and a Costco value-pack. The sandwiches are bland and dry on unexciting white "French" bread. The ambiance was nil. So uninviting I wanted to turn around as soon as I walked through the door... On the other hand, their second property down by the bridge is nice and airy and has a friendly staff! Still, extreamely average fare...
- Pros: Nice neighborhood
- Cons: Bad coffee, sad pastries...
Service with a frown
by mpx
-The service was really insulting
-The mocha and coffee both didn't taste right
-Charlestown needs some cafe competition here.
Here's a brief description of my experience this morning. The service was uninviting, and it was almost like they couldn't wait for me to order and then leave. The woman at the register gave my order (muffin and a mocha) in a to-go bag and cup respectively...didn't even ask if my order was "for here or to-go.". I said thank you, and she just stared back at me with no reply. I took a sip of the mocha, and it was terrible. When I told her the mocha didn't taste right, she really didn't seem to care. She gave me attitude. So I asked for a coffee instead, and she went ahead and replaced my mocha with a coffee. Lastly, I had to ask for a refund for the difference ($2). They didn't offer. Note, I was at the Sorrelle next to the Cold Stone Creamery near the Charlestown bridge.
I was really dissappointed with this place. I don't understand the 4.5 stars above based on my experience this morning. Anyone want to start a coffee shop in Charlestown with me? These folks need some competition.
- Pros: It's close to my house
- Cons: I wish there was another coffee shop closer
Hidden Jewel

For serious coffee drinkers, this is the best coffee in Boston. Bagels, scones and pastries are also excellent. What lunches!!!!! The roasted chicken and potatoes on Thursday is highly recommended. If you are looking for the personal touch this is the place to go.
Also try Sorelle's other location in City Square.
- Pros: ambience, great food, best coffee
- Cons: none
