Pockets is the best!. I just moved to Eastie and was looking for a new place to hang out on a hot summer's day/night... I stumbled upon Pockets and was so happy I did! The decor is so cute and it was a great place to grab a beer and shoot pool... (or in my case, just watch!)

The mixed drinks are great! I recommend Sex on Revere Beach! :)

Great atmosphere!. This place is always a great time! We have friends that come and shoot pool, others come and hang out and have a drink! There is something for everyone and the employees do not nickel and dime their guests, which is refreshing! They always have great drink specials and it is a great place to play.

Eastie's Best Kept Secret!!. So, I've never left a review before BUT after reading the one already posted, I felt like I had too. I just moved to East Boston and was looking for a cool, casual place to hang out. I saw the sign for Pockets Billiard Club and wanted to check it out. I looked up Pockets online and after reading the review, almost didn't go. I am so glad I did! went down on a Friday night with my roommate. The place had a cool, chill vibe. We played pool on really nice tables and played some music. After about an hour, the place filled up with 30 somethings. There was a mixed crowd, couples, singles, regulars and 1st timers like us. So after playing pool, which is only $10 a hour we sat at the bar and had some drinks. The bartender was friendly and cool. He was a local East Boston guy and told me a lot about the neighborhood. He made great drinks, also only $8 and we had a great time! I have gone back several times with my girls and we always have a great time! It is be becoming my 1st local spot. It is crowded on the weekends! This place is open til 2 every night too! And last thing, Ladies, there are always groups of single guys playing pool!!

Worst pool hall ever!. I'm only giving this a one star becuase this requires me to do so. If it was up to me, this place does not even desrve a start at all. There was another post saying that the tournements suck. He's right! The tournements are horrible. The rules are made up as they go along to favor the regulars, who by the way barely speaks english. Moreover, the tables are not leveled, and felt is extremely slow. The lights are not bright enough, and the floors seem unstable. The balls are outdated as well. They need to learn about the BCA rules, or APA rules, or make up their own rules and go over them before the trounement starts. I whish they would invest in better tables, add simonis cloth, and aramith balls. That's why I go to world class in peabody. It's worth my time and investment regardless of the distance I have to drvie.

Saturday Night Secret!. This place is a find!! Where can you go in the city without waiting in line and spending big bucks? I went down there to meet some friends who work at the airport.. We got there at midnight and got a table. There was a nice crown..no sleezy peeps...and then drinks were only like $6. This is a great hang out for the winter. It is a great find! It is really large and they have like 20 tables and a full bar selection! I met the owners who were so funny and nice. They are your typical Italians from the city...haha. It is truly an offer, you cant refuse!!

The owners are scumbags and can not run a tournament.. I recently played in an 8-ball tournament here and was disgusted at how the tournament was run. First of all, they did not go over any of the rules beforehand. I was just told by one of the owners, "If you have any issues during a match, just ask me." This is not the PROPER way to run a tournament. Secondly, it seemed like the brackets were rigged in favor of the house regulars to ensure that atleast one of them reached the finals. I brought a crew of 6 friends, and we all got stuck on the same side of a 16 man bracket. What are the odds of that? Pretty slim. In addition, one of the players did not show up, which should have been a bye, but instead, one of the owners decided to take that player's spot after the tournament had already started. That is rediculous! Later on in the finals, there was a dispute over a rule in which you can pocket your own ball off of an opponent's ball as long as you call the correct pocket (BCA rules). The owner then started making rules in favor of the house player stating that you can NEVER pocket your own ball off of another player's ball. Then on top of that, I saw the house player spotting a ball 3 inches in front of a previously spotted ball which made no sense at all. The total prize pool was atleast $300, first place got $130, second got $50 and a crappy budweiser pool cue, and thrid place got just another crappy budweiser pool cue. This place is a JOKE and I will never go back here again!
