Editorial Review for Uncle Pete's Hickory Ribs – by Gerrish Lopez
Whether it's an order of fall-off-the-bone ribs or cut-with-your-fork brisket, the barbecue faithful acclaim the exceptional tenderness of Uncle Pete's meats; racks of ribs are smoked over apple, hickory, or oak woods for up to three days. Prices are also worth noting: A heaping portion of moist pulled pork or juicy turkey tips and a choice of two sides (try the tangy Asian slaw or thick-cut onion rings) rings in at around $10.

I went to Uncle Pete's Hickory Ribs yesterday for what I hoped to be REAL southern food, if I wanted asian I would have gone to Kowloons but I had a craving for ribs, so off we went. Mind you our first time there a few years back didn't go too well but I always say I'll try anything twice just to be sure and man am I sure. Uncle Pete's isn't anymore southern cuisine then Taco bell is Mexican. I ordered the 2 meat combination, I chose Texas ribs & caribbeanjerk chicken or should I say Fake chicken. The chicken were those precooked thin breasts with grill marks on to give the impression they were actually cooked there and the sauce on top was I swear duck sauce, how dare they call that caribbeanjerk chicken, no spicey seasoning like it should be, just bland. The ribs were also done asian style, marinated in that red sauce that boneless spareribs are cooked in although they were good it wasn't what my taste buds were looking for and the two sides you get, this is where I started to get angry I chose mac n' cheese and corn. The mac n' cheese and this in no offense to Kraft but if I wanted boxed mac n' cheese, I would have gone to Stop n Shop myself and that is exactly what Uncle Pete did, I even asked our waitress for laughs if it was homemade, she looked me in my eyes and said yes, they have her fooled too and the corn, say it with me GREEN GIANT, the corn was clearly out of a can and looked like it had been sitting in water. Uncle Pete's is a joke, there isn't anything southern or homemade about this place. Even the decor inside is confusing, a mix of Texas and Thailand. Everything is drenched in duck sauce, they might as well change the name to Uncle Jackie Chan's. I DO NOT RECOMMEND and the 1 star I gave isn't even deserved. I'm not sure what day all the reviewers went on to give this place great reviews but I wish I was there on those days, I may have gotten real southern food. Shame on you Uncle Pete! I won't be back.
Cons: NOT REAL SOUTHERN FOOD
