Great Place, Great Prices.
I love Royals, it's one of the things I miss the most about East Boston. I'm actually going there right now for my seafood cravings. The prices are great for people on a tight budget, and the food is excellent. Service is great. It's a small place, not a restaurant with waiters so disregard the bad review.
Take it from me, I'm driving from Lowell to East Boston to get me some Royals =)
I love this place.... I read this guys review and I got upset. I?ve been going to Royals for 20 years, since it opened, and I love it. This guy goes there once and thinks he knows the place. I don?t know any other place that has faster service and great food. The lovely ladies behind the counter always help me make the right selection, but you can never go wrong with the Super roast beef sandwich, all around, on an onion roll. But if you want seafood, try their HUGE Fresh fish sandwich with the best tarter sauce?. I just made myself hungry, I?m going to Royals.
Decent sandwich, could use a service upgrade.
Since every sandwich shop in Boston claims to have the best Roast Beef sandwiches, you never know. When I walked in Royal, I was pleased that the menu was expansive and reasonably priced. However, when I asked the young man behind the register what to recommend, he kept pushing the grilled chicken, this after looking at me like I was from another planet. He didn't like seafood so he couldn't tell me about that said and when I asked him about the roast beef, he shook his head and seaid, "OK I Guess". Some ambassador - I should have walked out then but I was hungry and tired of looking around. Plus the drink machine was out so my drink was in a can and they had no ice as well. Sandwich was decent but they slathered the thing in way too much mustard and gave me a look when I asked for them to cut it in half!
There are plenty of Roast Beef shops and even if you're in East Boston, I'd go somewhere else.
