Editorial Review for Amrheins Restaurant – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
With its welcoming bar area and affordably-priced menu of comfort fare, Amrheins aims to serve as a suitable neighborhood hangout for casually-dressed South Bostonians. The oldest hand carved bar in America is still in use, and the city's first draft beer pump is on display. Entrees cost under $20 and include pan-seared haddock, marinated sirloin tips and vegetarian risotto.

We were pretty bummed out about the overall service. First time- we ate in the restauraunt and the food was great and service was better. We tried the take out and we waited 48 minutes, our order was wrong and the "Owner" yelled at my wife and then called back to basically give us a hard time. The bartender was awesome but unfortunately we won't be back. We try hard to patronize Southie restaurants and bars. We are from here! This was just bad and we are bummed out at the attitude that we received. Very disappointed and we won't be back. CF Donvans is a little drive but so much better. TC
Pros: Psrking

I went to Amrheins the other night with my girlfriend, it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. We have been to Amrheins before and always had a good meal but that was all it was, a good meal. This night happened to be one of the better. I had the Maple Glazed Pork special, it was out of this world. My girlfriend had the Chicken Bella Bocca. Our waitress Meg recommended both meals, she claimed the Bella Bocca was her favorite dish on the menu, now, it is also one of my girlfriends favorites. Meg made our night even more enjoyable, with her pleasant smile and great sense of humor, we laughed as well as ate. If you are looking for a comfortable, warm, friendly place to have a delicious dinner and great drinks, then I recommend giving Amrheins a shot. Between the delicious food and great service, we will be back to Amrheins again very soon.
Pros: Great Service, from the Hostess to the waitress to the bartenders, very warm, friendly and comfortable
Cons: Music A Little Loud, Chef Very Loud
