Great place!. I like the food, very lively weekend nights, I agree about the Coombs comments, though good food is good food, I didn't go there to be his friend, I went so he can feed me!!!Keep up the great work! Deux Ave another great place, food is great!

dBar's praise?. I'm glad I ate here a few weeks ago, before I saw the "chef" on Chopped. Not only was Chris Coombs overly arrogant, which is a HUGE no-no in my book, but he speaks like a grown-up but cooks like a child, and I think the judges saw right through his name-dropping, term-using act. Even though he left with his "wildly successful" mindset in tact, his restaurant and the food he serves, leave a lot to be desired, especially in Dorchester. I have to say, now that I've eaten his food and sat in his restaurant, that there is nothing "wildly successful" going on here other than the creation of a ego that doesn't seem to know when to take direction or shut the proverbial "mouth". Chris, your arrogance alone will ensure I never revisit your place or food again. Unfortunately, I ate before I saw you on TV and then it all became clear: you're not only a mediocre chef, you're an extremely poor loser: we'd have loved to have you on our team in Afghanistan - I think you'd see what's really important. By the way, what military service were you in that gave you "permission" to be so arrogant on the home front? ......yeah, that's what I thought. Our chow cooks were more creative than you! Good place for brunch. I really enjoyed DBar. It was on my list of places to get to because of its Best of Boston 2006 rating, but I thought I'd be going there for some night life. Instead, Sunday morning a friend was in town and we wanted a place for brunch. I remembered that DBar advertised a Sunday brunch special. Not knowing what to expect, we went in search. The place was a bit empty when we first arrived, but the manager and our server were friendly and accommodating, encouraging us to choose our own spot, and turning down the fan when we said we were cold. The music was a good mix, and the decor is tasteful and comfortable, with wood floors and warm colors. Service was great; if anything, perhaps a tad over-attentive. The food took a little time to come out, but the coffee--which was excellent--kept getting refreshed, and my friend and I enjoyed the time to chat. Our meals were beyond my expectation: I had the wild mushroom omlette with goat cheese; my friend had the french toast with berries; both were exceptional. I'd definitely go back even though the prices are on the high side of moderate (with a good tip our meal was about $30).

Not as great as people say - Ashmont grill is soo much better. Food is good, not extraordinary. It's a bar, loud music, dingy. Service was slow, virtually non existent and terrible.

Portions are extremely small, not enough for my son or husband.

A better bet is the Ashmont grill.

Does getting sick come with the mea, or is that extra?. My initial excitement about a bistro-bar in Dorchester has fizzled with my appetite after contracting a nasty gastroenteritis at the fashionable dbar last week. On two previous occasions, I tolerated a really bad waitress with a really big ego. On another occasion, I listened as my retaurant-savvy friend brated the pumpkin creme broule, which I had to admit looked suspicious. The food that did me in looked OK. The blue and green salad was missing the blue (cheese) entirely, but probably housed the source of my illness. I did notice the sliced apple garnish was rather brown too. Adding insult to infection, the service was abominable with an obvious prejudice of our server for tables which had cocktails piled all over them. At a considerable $20-entree, a-la

-carte-everything price, you can do much better.

Great food, great atmosphere, great prices. We went to dbar the first time a few days ago, and we loved it. It was hard to decide what to get as the entire menu looked delicious, but we were so happy with our burgers, salads, and risotto. The drinks are phenomenal, our waiter was perfect, not too in your face, but there to make sure our meal was going well. You would pay double the price for this ambience and food if it was in Boston proper - which makes me thrilled to have it here in Dorchester!

Sophistication and Affordability. dbar is a fantastic new addition to Dorchester. It has remarkable appetizers, entrées and best of all the incredible drinks. The Pomegranate Martini and the Pistachio martini (tastes like the ice cream) are two of my favorites. dbar is perfect for dinner or to just go and have a drink and relax. There is an astonishingly diverse crowd, which makes for relaxed environment.

In short dbar is my new favorite addition to Dorchester!.
