“This seemed high to me, since a new muffler at Autozone for an old civic costs $40 (I realize that Autozone parts are bottom of the line, but the huge discrepancy struck me as odd).”
GHETTO. Do not go to this place unless you’ve got a lot of time to spare. I scheduled an appointment for a routine oil change and alignment for a Friday. An hour before my appointment, they’d called to tell me they were too busy to fit me in, so I rescheduled to the following Monday for noon. When I got there, they told me again that they couldn’t fit me in even though I had an appointment. “Things happen,” was their answer. After I complained about it, they said they would go ahead and fit me in and that it would be done by 2 since I had to teach a class at 2:30. I hung out at a nearby restaurant for 2 hours, went back, and discovered that they hadn’t even brought my car in. Their response again was, “Things happen.” I took my car elsewhere. If these people can’t even keep their appointments straight, I don’t think I can trust them with my car.
Not honest.
This place used to be run by a good guy but when I went for a routine oil change, they called and told me I needed new brake pads. I was in a rush to go out of town, so they (my fault) convinced me over the phone to do it for safety (always a cheap trick!).
Two hours longer than it was supposed to take, I called them and they said there were major, expensive issues on a total different part of the car! I flew down there angry and they said the expensive stuff was a different car. They did still give me brake pads, which squeak all the time. I had someone else look at them and apparently they work but are cheap material (cost me $200!).
Never again. Don't go here.
over-priced, possibly dishonest. I went to Munroe's to have the muffler replaced on my old civic today. I was quoted $365 for parts and labor. This seemed high to me, since a new muffler at Autozone for an old civic costs $40 (I realize that Autozone parts are bottom of the line, but the huge discrepancy struck me as odd). The Munroe's quote did not itemize parts and labor, but I know it does not take more than one hour to install a rear muffler. I asked for the car back, and drove down the street to Tech Auto repair. They quoted me $175 for parts and labor, and did a great job with top notch parts. I would not go back to Munroe again.
