Tips for Roberts Towing Inc

This morning (4/30/13) my car was boosted up on a tow truck by Robert's Towing. The vehicle was parked in the rear parking lot at Tynan Elementary School in South Boston (corner of Emerson and K Street). You can legally park there in the evening, until 7 AM in the morning. I arrived at exactly 7 to move my car, and a tow truck had already boosted it up. I told the driver to stop and he pulled out of the parking lot. I told him that it was 6:59 and he said, no it's 7:02, and said I was parked illegally. He immediately demanded a 90 dollar fee (cash only) because the car had been taken off the lot. I told him I saw him just drive it off the lot and asked him to put the car down be sensible, since I showed up right at 7 AM. He refused and said "rules are rules". I didn't have $90 on me, so I asked to go to an ATM. He said I "had two minutes". I had to run to an ATM, run back, and then he didn't have change, so I had to beg a local bakery to help me out. I felt I had no choice, so I gave him the money. Looking back on it, he must have put my car up on his truck prior to 7 AM, since I showed up right on time. I understand these tow truck drivers have to deal with angry people all day, and people who park illegally should have their cars removed, but that was not the case in this instance. The driver was completely unreasonable and just wanted my money. He showed a complete lack of respect, integrity, and rationality. I was completely taken advantage of!

Tow truck vultures!. I was helping my college son move across the street on a Saturday afternoon. I was parked behind the apartment complex in an unloading spot by a gate. No one was around.

Roberts towing must have been hidden and watching because we stepped away for 2 minutes and when we came back, they had towed us.

After a 4 mile bike ride and $143 to the arrogant vultures, we later saw them cruising the same lots looking for other cars to poach.

The underbelly of Boston. On a recent visit to Boston we fell victim to Roberts Towing. It's Sunday morning and we are parked in the back of our daughter's apartment building, with the flashers on, loading suitcases to leave. We aren't blocking the alley, and there's not a sole in sight. In the time it took us to go upstairs, get our things and come back down our car was already all hitched up and about to be towed away. There was no talking to this scruffy low life who demanded $50 in cash to release our car. I have parked there on numerous occasions, including Sept 1st (notorious moving in day in Boston) to unload furniture, groceries, etc. and never had an issue. We had no choice, and this vulture knew it, but to pay to have him release our car before he subjected it to to major damage. He wasn't even professional enough to know that you can't tow cars that are four wheel drive. So be forewarned ... Roberts Towing doesn't need a valid excuse to tow your car, they just do it because they want to. I swear he must have been watching us from up the street just waiting for us to leave the car unattended for a minute. Unfortunately one star is the lowest I can give. This company gives Boston a bad name.

SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!. Roberts Towing is a SCAM.

My car was parked legally on a rental spot, i pay $175 a month to park there. My parking tag was clearly visible, they attempted to tow my car previously even with the TAG. I was able to stop them in TIME, but last night they successfully towed my car. I bet they towed my car mistakenly then realized they cant park my vehicle back at my spot, so they decided to toss my parking tag away and towed my car for civil trespass. BULLSH**!!!! my car was parked there for over 2yrs with a parking TAG!!!!!!! Dont try to scam my money....went to the POLICE and filed a report of THEM. reason i know they were suspicious because they were not willing to disclose their names or the driver's name.

Roberts Towing is reckless and arrogant!. One Star Rating because I couldn't put negative stars or zero stars!

A recent experience with Roberts Towing left me feeling like I had been mugged. I had to cough up $50 to have them un-hook my car (at the mere push of a button) as I had come back to my car before they had towed it away from an inadequately marked area of a shared parking lot in Brookline. He was doing a brisk business that day as the restricted area was marked above the sight lines of drivers and many drivers did not see the sign at that angle. The even larger issue: my car is a Subaru. Everyone knows that all Subarus are All-Wheel-Drive and must be towed on a flatbed truck. The tow truck driver assured me it was OK because he only had the rear wheels in the tow bar. What stupidity! The car could have been damaged beyond repair if he had towed it to his storage lot and they would have claimed that they were not responsible. They should lose their license to do this work or be made to pay up for damages in such obvious cases. That would make them think twice before hiring incompetent drivers and putting peoples' cars at risk of severe damage. The businesses or individuals who hire them to tow from their parking lots should also be held accountable (get them in their wallets or campaign against their business).

Criminals and suckers who live on other peoples earnings. I was at one of the chestnut realty property visiting a friend on a sunday and the parking lot was empty, I had parked there since the street parking was all taken I was gone for 30 mins and my car got towed. Sunday we have free parking through out the city, this is just a money sucking device for not only the towing company, but for chestnut realty as well. They had no one to talk properly, the lady I spoke to was ready to bite my head off even before I said hello. I had tp pay $143 dollars to get my car back. I use to live at one of the chestnut hill realty read my reviews about them before renting from them.

Criminals. Well, they're criminals. The driver took a friend's car from our spot and charged us a $50 fee to unhook it from the tow. He told us to "dig deeper" when we initially had only $42, and when I asked the guy what I could do to get him to unhook the car he told me to step away from the car. It might be cliche to talk about his being on a power trip, but I've never seen a clearer case. Perhaps the worst part is that he towed based solely on the unsubstantiated claims of another person.

Totally shady. They towed a friends car illegally. We even suspect they moved a car to an illegal spot so they could make money towing. Lawyers and media will be called as well as the Att. General for the State.
