Dont have to go to Boston anymore for great food!.
I was recently at tastings Bistro after a friend of mine told me I needed to go there. I usually go into a certain tapas restaurant in boston, and although Im sure I will still frequent the Boston spot, I am very impressed with what Tastings is doing in the town of Foxboro? Yes Foxboro, unless your a pats fan its probably not on the radar. But if your into great food, cool upscale atmosphere and wine, then this is where to go. The food is of the highest quality, presented beutifully and seasoned perfectly. The chef is cooking or did cook , I cant remember which one, at the James Beard House, not just any chefs get invited to cook at the Beard House. We had the oyster tasting with 3 different preperations (4 out of 5), poached eggs and vegetables (5 out of 5) pork shank (4 out of 5) seafood paella(4 out of 5) beef tasting with 3 different preperation (5 out of 5) and wild boar meatballs (5 out of 5), everything was just awesome.
I am a huge foodie, and this place is going to make an impact on what is going on in the food scene outside Boston. Service was good, drinks were good and wine list is pretty interesting. I will go back again for sure.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Massachusetts.
I am posting mainly to say sorry to the previous poster for his bad experience. I'm not sure what happened that they were out of four things on the menu but that is not a common thing for Tastings. I have to say I work there but even if I did not, I would say this is one of the best restaurants in Massachusetts. The menu boasts unique combinations of ingredients that can be expertly paired with wine, and everything is very fresh, and local when possible. I'm sorry your server was not knowledgeable but I also assure you that is not common either.
Please come by again and try our winter menu. I assure you we will not be out of so many things again and you will be pleased with the changes.
Overpriced, poor service.
An interesting concept (especially for a suburban restaurant) but I have to say I was completely and utterly disappointed. After waiting 1.5 hrs for a table, 4 of the items we wanted to order were unavailable. Now if you were ordering off of a huge menu, it wouldn't be so bad, but when you're ordering off of a tiny menu like this one, it significantly impacts your meal (especially as a vegetarian). Also, I have been to a number of tapas restaurants across the country, but when you factor in the size of the dishes with the cost, its completely ridiculous. $12 for 4 teeny slices of little toasts with different toppings - and this is what they call bruschetta. And Ithe service leaves much to be desired - after we finally got seated, our waiter was totally inattentive and didn't seme at all apologetic about the lack of menu items (not that its his fault) and tried to convince us that a salad would be just as filling as the gnocchi we had ordered which they were all out of.
The one saving grace for this place is the wine menu, so if you're going just to have a glass a wine, you're in luck - just don't go on a weekend because the bar area is tiny. But if you have high expectations when it comes to food of this style/price and you're looking for a culinary experience, go elsewhere.
