Poor lunch experience at the restaurant/bar on a Saturday afternoon. Bartender bored, not really sure how to explain menu, food erratic. Ok, one would argue they have not been open that long. But given the hype, I would say that 4 weeks into "being" they should know better. And, like the other reviewer we had a horridparking experience - how about going to an event at one of their tenants, a special event as they say, and then being told the parking was $68!!! FOR TWO HOURS. Really, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I give you a year.

Pros: Location

Overrated! I was really excited for the Mandarin the add to the Boston social scene. However, it was a huge disappointment. The exterior architecture is obviously disappointing. The interior design unfortunately matches - looks like it was designed in the late 90s! I had hoped the bar would be among the best in boston, but far from it. It was tiny, and they take forever to serve drinks! Worse, the customer service was terrible. I was at the hotel for 1.5 hours, and a parking attendant tried to charge me $45 for parking! When I pointed to a sign that said parking was supposed to be $24, he said that parking cost more because I ate at the restaurant. Idiotic! Eventually, a customer service manager came out and straightened things out, but the service should not be so horrible on opening weekend. It's fine for TGI Friday's to be working out its kinks when it opens, but when you are going to charge the prices that Mandarin does, it is disappointing. There are several better alternatives to going out in Boston. Let's hope that the W will really step it up when opens. The Mandarin has failed.

Pros: Fancier than Dillon's

Cons: Horrible customer service; not what you would expect for a place that has such a rep
