- On the phone press 6 (mailbox #56). Located in downtown Boston theatre district at the corner of Stuart & Tremont St. <U>From the North</U> take 93 South to the Chinatown/Kneeland Street exit. Take a right on Kneeland Street. Go four lights to Tremont Street. Take a left on Tremont Street. <U>From the South</U> take 93 North to the Chinatown/Kneeland Street exit. Take a left on Kneeland Street. Go four lights to the corner of Tremont Street. Take a left on Tremont Street. <U>From points West</U> take the Mass Pike to its end and follow the signs for Chinatown. At the end of the ramp take a left on Kneeland Street. Go four lights. Take a left on Tremont Street. <U>From Storrow Drive</U> take the Back Bay exit. Go right on Arlington Street. The third light is Boylston Street. Take a left. Get into the right lane and continue straight past the Four Seasons Hotel. The second light is Tremont Street. Go right. The theatre is located one block down on the left.

The Space
A simple two-story brick structure with Georgian and Federal Revival motifs, the Wilbur is scaled more along the lines of a private residence (architect Clarence Blackall modeled it after actor Edwin Booth's Mt. Vernon Street home) than an opulent playhouse.
Built in 1913 on the former site of the Winthrop School for Girls, the Wilbur features a tasteful facade with three French arched windows, a marble parapet and an iron balcony overlooking Tremont Street. Inside, it is obvious that the theater has seen better days and is greatly deserving of the kind of overhaul recently given the Shubert.
Like the Colonial, the Wilbur boasts a fan-shaped house that provides excellent sightlines.
