great hair cut and highlights from Valerie at Avanti. i recently got my hair cut and foiled from Valerie at Avanti and it came out great! i heard good things about this salon from friends and decided to try it out..and i couldnt be happier with the results..she was so nice and made me feel beautiful..the prices are pretty reasonable for newbury st its worth a trip to boston..

Kevin - The Incredibly Talented Men's Hairstylist. Avanti is a fun, upbeat and stylish place to get a haircut. I'm a guy with long hair, and Kevin is the best stylist I've found anywhere for giving my hair a perfectly layered and sculptured look. He cuts it just as I like, never too long or too short, takes his time, and is a really nice guy, doesn't chat your ears off.

Best hair straitener. I just had my hair straitened by my stylist Louise Chobanian not to be confused with the other Louise. All I can say is AMAZING. She controlled my wirey, frizzy hair in 5 hrs. It was educational and fun.The compliments Im getting are increadable. Im spreading the word. Its hard to find a person who listens and understands and is increadably professional.Oh, the salon is beautiful too. The employees are friendly and nice. The salon is energetic. I love it and my stylist too!

Great Salon, Even Better Cut. Avanti is a great place to get your hair styled and I am a big fan of the salon. The people at Avanti are friendly, their prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable. I was introduced to Avanti by following one of their stylists there, Richard Caron. Richard has been styling my hair for a number of years (too many to count) and in my opinion he is one of the best stylists on Newbury Street or in Boston for that matter. Richard is a versatile stylist; every time I want a new look ? he pulls it off with ease. If I want to continue with a certain style, he consistently delivers. He is an artist. His attention to detail and focus makes you believe that you?re his only customer of the day.

Due to my work schedule, I sometimes go long period between cuts, but Richard?s work is so great, that my hair grows out perfectly ? the sign of a fantastic cut. Not only do I get a great cut each time, but also I feel good when I leave the salon and walk down Newbury Street - always with a big smile.

Didn't work for me. A few weeks ago, I stopped in to make an appointment. The receptionist explained that I would first have a consultation with the owner of the salon, who, upon meeting me and reviewing my needs, would recommend a compatible stylist on his staff. So the next day I arrive on time, excited for the consultation, but it never happened. Instead, after waiting around for a while, I was handed off to a very young stylist, who cut my hair into a strange bob that didn't work for my hair at all. Too shy to say anything, I went home and immediately put it in a ponytail and started researching other salons. Unfortunately, I am finding that "award-winning" salons are not living up to the hype...

Wanna be re-invented FABULOUS?!! Janida's got what you need at Avanti Salon.. If you want to have someone just cut and/or color your hair (snore.), you go do that. But, if you want someone to re-invent you as gorgeous, go to Janida Araujo at Avanti Salon. To say she's an ?aesthetic genius? doesn?t even come close to doing her justice. Janida has hard-earned my unflinching trust with her panache for re-inventing me every single time I sit in her chair. Before her, my hair had never seen highlighting and styling prowess like hers. Janida made the ?break-up? with my old stylist a no-brainer once I saw what she was coming with. She continues to literally amaze me; her finished product far surpasses my expectations. Not to mention the MIRACLE she performed on my mother?s hair! I don?t know about you, but I?m tired of stylists who don?t take any initiative. Janida gives my personal style what it NEEDS without me having to draw her a map. You can?t trust your hair to just anyone, but you CAN and SHOULD trust it to Janida. This woman is a ROCK STAR, PERIOD. Don?t believe me? Go see for yourself. Here?s my ?I told you so? in advance.

Best hair stylist. When I first moved to Boston 13 years ago I noticed a woman with an amazing haircut. I asked her who her stylist was and she directed me to Richard, now at Avanti. Although he has been my stylist for nearly 13 years, my cut is not dated; I believe his effort to stay "current" keeps me looking fresh and polished. I believe Richard's talent lies in his ability to listen to his client's wishes and use his experience to create an amazing end result. My most recent cut is the reason I'm writing; he employed a technique using a razor to layer my long hair; I'm thrilled with the result. For me, the 60 mile round trip to Boston from my home is well worth the trip. Richard is a talented stylist and Avanti is a great salon.

Best Salon in Boston. I recently returned to Avanti Salon and found Richard, my fabulous new hairstylist. He worked with me to update my look, using a razor cut to finally give me the long layers I wanted. He is also working on my color for a more natural look. I can completely trust Richard, explain to him what I want and know that I am in expert hands. I love the salon ~ it is very professional, creating a quieter, more personalized experience. I've tried a lot of them, and this is the best in Boston.

Rude Receptionists. I have searched for a long time to find someone who can cut my hair well, and I found it at Avanti. However, I find the other staff kind of snobby and rude. The receptionist never makes me feel welcome, and the other stylists make me feel like I am in their way all the time. Other than that, Avanti is a good place - reasonable prices and convenient to get to, plus a very talented stylist whom I have been going to for about a year now.

A great atmosphere, Naomi is amazing!. I've been getting my haircut by Naomi for the past 5 years or so, I adore her, not only is her personality great, bubbly, funny and down to earth, but her cuts are amazing. I have had several women stop me on the street and ask me where I get my haircut, I happily send them to her. When she moved to Avanti I was apprehensive, but after my first appointment there I realized the salon matched her personality perfectly. Low key, down to earth and not at all pretentious. Now that I live in NY I still make it a point to have her cut my hair everytime I am in Boston visiting friends. I'd highly, highly recommend her!
