Editorial Review for Salon Mario Russo - Louis Boston – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Considered by many to be the best hair salon in town, Mario Russo caters to Boston's power crowd. The chic salon fits in with its upscale neighbors--the Ritz, Cartier and Akris. The services are fairly basic, from highlights to straightening. They do branch out to makeup and nails however--so it's a good spot to get ready before a night on the town.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasMario Russo is also one of the few local salons that gets accolades in national magazines such as Vogue and W.
Know Before You GoWhile a haircut with Mario himself is probably the priciest cut in town, you can also get a reasonably priced cut from a more novice stylist.

I have been having my hair colored by Heather for years. Now there is no one else I will go to. She is sweet, friendly and delivers the best color I have ever had. Not to mention she colors many "in-town" celebrities in Boston. I have brown hair and she gives me the best blonde highlights I have ever had. If you want red hair, i have also heard she does the "best red in boston". People are always asking me where I get my hair done. So it was a no-brainer when I got married in 2006, where to get my hair styled too. I had Kent style my hair and he did a fantastic job. He also did an amazing job on my maid of honor's hair. Kent took time to consult with me, then took extra time to straighten my naturally curly hair (most salons won't do that when doing an updo) to make the most gorgeous up-do i have ever seen. I wanted a very mature, classic look (not prom hair) and both of our styles looked great. Kent even used a braid extension to wrap around my Maid of Honor's bun which looked flawless and completely natural. My maid of honor could not believe how much time he gave us. We didn't feel rushed at all. My only "con" with Mario Russo is the price. It is expensive, but I would rather spend money on quality then less money on a lowsy job. I only get my hair colored there on a regular basis because i can't afford a cut too. But if you see Heather, i gaurantee you will love it.
Pros: Best color and style
Cons: Pricey, no parking

Billy was recommended for curly hair. I thought he wasn't that great. My hair was a little uneven and I found myself (which I dread) snipping pieces that were a little to long.
Cons: Newbury St. location felt congested w/ atmosphere to match, hair dresseer seemed a little unkempt
