What People Are Saying About Salon Mario Russo - Louis Boston
Featured Review

Contributor
In Short – Considered by many to be the best hair salon in town, Mario Russo caters to Boston's power crowd. The chic salon fits in with its upscale neighbors--the Ritz, Cartier and Akris. The services are fairly basic, from highlights to straightening. They do branch out to makeup and nails however--so it's a good spot to get ready before a night on the town.
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- Mario Russo is also one of the few local salons that gets accolades in national magazines such as Vogue and W.
- Know Before You Go:
- While a haircut with Mario himself is probably the priciest cut in town, you can also get a reasonably priced cut from a more novice stylist.
Great Makeover for my daughter!
by Maureen LM at Citysearch
My brother and sister-in-law gave my 13 year old daughter a new look for her Christmas present. Part of that was a cut and styling of the long thick curly hair that she never wanted cut. It was hard to drag her in for a trim. She had an appointment with Leah who talked with her first and asked her what she wanted and what she found difficult about keeping her hair looking good. Anna actually opened up and explained about the knots at the nape of her neck and the frizz and that she wanted it to look sleek, long and shiny! Leah listened carefully and made some suggestions they agreed on trimming and shaping. Leah explained to Anna exactly what she was doing as she was doing it and how she could do this herself. My daughter was so pleased with the way she looked that she wished that it wasn't Christmas vacation and that the kids at school could see her. The best part of this is Anna can do it herself! She looks great!!!
Where's Heather?
by Jestine at Citysearch
Does anyone know where Heather went after leaving Mario Russo? She used to do my highlights and she was the best! Please respond if you know anything.
Where's Lori?

So Lori O'Brien has left Mario Russo. There are still other great stylists there, but does anyone know where she went??? They won't say.
worst haircut at any price

Walked in looking somewhat sophisticated left looking like someone from the cast of The Golden Girls. ....in spite of pictures and discussion of what I wanted. It will take a year to undo the damage.
- Cons: the stylist who doesn't pay attention
Amanda Johnson - Best Colorist in Boston!!!!!
by Lemansky at Citysearch
I've been going to Amanda for years now and will certainly be a lifelong client. Amanda has worked wonders on my hair, making me look great as both a blond and a brunette - which is not easy to do. Over the years she has flawlessly transitioned my hair back and forth at my every whim. She knows how to give her clients exactly what they want and can make the color subtle, natural, or a drastic change if you please. She is sweet and intelligent and clearly knows her stuff. Amanda also recommends the best product for your hair, without trying to oversell you. I've sent numerous friends to Amanda that all still continue to see her. I honestly can rave about her enough and recommend her services to anyone out there who wants a fabulous color!
- Pros: You'll come out looking gorgeous.
