OO la la -- Boston's most french salon

Alex Safar, the French owner of Salon Acote, is ahead of the curve -- no, make that ahead of the curl -- to offer his clients chic cuts, color and styling. I've been getting my hair done there for years, and I always exit there looking like I stepped out of the pages of Vogue. I'm always thrilled and never disappointed. Alex is phenomenal with cuts -- that's his specialty, although his color is also fantastic. Her personally does the Keratin treatments on my hair. Before Keratin, I used to beat and blow-dry my hair into submission -- now I have the straight, silky tresses of my dreams. Alex is the real deal if you're seeking classic cuts and color that are the epitome of chic. And, did you know that Salon acote will do your hair for FREE on your wedding day, if you are already a client? That's a fantastic offering that every bride in Boston should know about. I just had a highlight performed by Stephanie, and she also did an awesome job. Sit there, have a complimentary cappuccino (Better than Starbucks!), listen to the European music, and take in the French flair of this salon. Salon acote, je t'aime!

Jana is phenomenal!

I've been living in Boston for 7 years now, and after several stylists in the city, I've found my last! I've been seeing Jana now for a couple of years and she continues to surprise me.

I have long, straight hair that lacks volume - she knows exactly how to cut it to take weight off and make my fullness more obvious. She teaches me exactly how to use products to add volume.

If I bring her a picture of a color I like, I walk out with exactly what I wanted.

Jana is always ahead of the wave when it comes to trends in hair, and I can always count on her to show me what's new and what would work for me.

Salon Acote has a relaxing atmosphere that's exactly what I'm looking for when I want to have my hair done. Coffee, wine, music, a great hair wash... It's all part of the atmosphere that makes me love this salon. Definitely recommended.

Mihal Scissorhands

Guys, if you're looking for a stylish cut that isnt your typical "buzz n' fly" barber-style doo, Mihal is your man. I have lived in Boston for 10 years and have worked my way up and down Newbury's salons disappointed by the lack of creativity and inconsistency stylists have when it comes to mens' cuts. Mihal is fantastic. You can usually judge a stylist by how they keep their own hair and Mihal rocks some of the coolest cuts I've seen this side of the pond.

On my first visit I asked Mihal to give me a haircut that worked for my face/head. He talked to me for about 10 min before even touching my hair. I didnt realize it at the time but he was getting a feel for my personality and it showed. He meticulously gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had and it really complimented my personality. A week after it looked even better!! The second time I went back - same thing. Third - again.

I've recommended Mihal to about 5 of my closest friends and they all had equally great experiences.

I really like the vibe in Acote as well. The receptionist makes a bangin' cappuccino and they usually break out a bottle of wine for their guests (thumbs up for that one!). I think the most I've ever had to wait is 10 min but when I do I like to chill out on their patio. As for music... best is Boston. Period.

I usually have to come in after work and Mihal is always willing to stay a little later as needed. His prices are excellent and cuts consistent.

Overall, the place is solid. Highly recommended.

Great experience with Danielle.

Danielle has not only styled my hair (she does an amazing blow-out) but she also cut a friends hair and did an absolutely terrific job. She brought her from a plain hairstyle, to a sharp, short cut. The dye-job was amazing as well, and looked exactly like the picture my friend brought in. It wasn't an easy change at all, but Danielle did exactly what she wanted. For me she's done blowouts and up-dos and both have been amazing. I definitely recommend coming here - there is a stylist for all your needs!

ALEX MANAGER TURNED MY HAIR BRASSY & ORANGE!!

This is glassgirl's follow up to the 2nd time they ruined my hair! So i came back after Jana turned my beautiful hair into a brass nightmare and spoke with Alex, son of owner & manager. He spent 4 hrs fixing it and slamming Jana's work. He said with the amount of brass she put in may hair especially my hair line it would take 3 visits and months to repair it. She already bleached it 3xs so it was very brittle. It did take that long&I loved his color after a few months he said i'd be happy. Unfortunately it took this long. Then i went back today to retouch my roots and 4 1/2 hrs later, after i was forgotten about my hair was back to the horrible BRASS! I asked him 2x's to talk to me while he was nxt to me w/ another client & he refused. finally i started to cry & asked him how can we fix it & he rudely said to find someone else and blamed ME! I couldn't believe how rudely he treated me & now I have a horrible Brassy head of mess for the holidays. I wanted to put negative 10 stars but they make you put at least one. He didn't even spend any time checking my hair & put 3 different grills in charge. He said my hair was fine when clearly it looks like a $10 dye job!!! STAY AWAY IF YOU CARE WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE!
