Great Service at Safar. I enjoyed my first visit to Safar on Newbury Street. Saul is a meticulous hair stylist with great ideas. He spent a lot of time with me discussing my hair and ideas for a new cut. He also changed the color slightly with low and high lights - very natural but with shine and texture. When I arrived home my husband commented "that is the best hair cut you have ever had!"

I am very happy. I walked in off the street and found the atmosphere very friendly and helpful. The best part was meeting Saul, who sat and listened to my past hair story and gave me the best hair cut. He took his time and did a great job. He's a real professional.

I am very happy.

Taken advantage of - received a service that I did not know. This is the first salon that I have ever been taken advantage of. I asked to get a hair mask, and I was quoted $40. I made an appointment and I was charged $60 + $40 for hairdrying, which they never told me was part of the price. This was the first time that I had a hair mask, and there was no way that I would pay $40 for drying my hair that wasn't even styled. I saw Saul. I do not recommend him or this place. Double check anything you get from them.

Reading the reviews about this place, it seems like I'm not the only one who got taken advantage of by charging a $40 hairdry. I tried to refute it on my credit card and was denied. It's modern day thievery. Another user on yelp has voiced the same complaint.

Still looking for the perfect match?. Still looking for that salon where you feel comfortable, you know they're talented, it's surprisingly not that hard to get into, and is not even outrageously expensive? Go to Safar! It's funky, convenient, friendly AND all of the above. Srsly. The stars aligned (after 8 years in Massachusetts, why so long??) and sent me to Saul, and I could not be happier. He took my boring long blonde hair and brought me into the 21st century, with patience and style. Thanks, Saul!! See you soon:)

Great Haircuts. I have been going to see Saul for over a year now and have never been disappointed. Before I met him I was continuously dissatisfied at other salons. I always left with a bad haircut that had to take a few weeks to grow out. But not at Safar Coiffures! It's a refreshing relief to leave Saul's chair every time with a haircut that looks great from day one. I have curly hair but straighten it so he cuts my hair to fit both styles for whichever one I'm in the mood for. He is very friendly and always cuts my hair exactly how I tell him with some added professional opinion. I highly recommend him. It's also very easy to get an appointment with him during the week.

Awesome cut!. I had a great haircut by Saul today! He gave me suggestions about what would look good with my face shape and also listened to my requests and I ended up with a fabulous looking new do! He's meticulous and did a great job making sure it was perfect. I'll definitely go back again. Oh, and this place is totally cheap - especially for Newbury St! Check it out!

Reasonal prices for premium haircuts.. Trendy, professional, great service, amazing prices, great haircuts! I am super picky about hair salons and I am a deal hunter. Special is when you find a hair salon and hair stylist that provides the same level of service and expertise as premium salons for a reasonable price. Now, that is special! This place has great ambiance, location, prices, stylists and the service is very welcoming.

My stylist Saul, loooves what he does. He is an amazing hair stylist. All that expertise, love and happiness shows in my hair cuts. He has the touch of gold!

see Horacio for curly hair. I have really thick, curly hair and was looking for someone to fix the color and the hack job done at the last place i went to. I heard about Horacio at Safar and thought I'd take the risk. He was awesome! He was brutually honest about what he thought would work and took the time to explain what he was going to do so I wouldn't be so anxious. The color came out really well and the cut is phenomenal. He really knows what he's doing! (Back in '98 he was voted "Best Curly Hairstylist" or something like that from Harper's Bazaar.) The salon is really nice and everyone seemed friendly - they also have a full coffee bar so you can have a latte or espresso while your color is setting. Sweet!

BEST COLOR. I am originally from NYC but I traveled to Boston to stay with a Friend on Com AVE. My hair was looking terrible and I Asked my friend to recommend someone. Liz, my Friend, told me about how this young man, Omid Maxey, just recently did super models hair in NY for fashion week! Right then and there that was exactly what I needed. A true professional! i went, got my color done, and from now on I will totally come to Omid to work with my hair. Not going to lie, my hair is very thick and Omid made his job seem like a piece a cake!
