BEWARE --- DO NOT CONSIGN HERE ...!. i consigned a bunch of high end designer clothes at this location and had the worst experience of my life. i was Baffled by the incompetence of the employees, manager and tech support.

i dropped off my clothes and was told i could go home and register my account online and check to make sure the items were priced appropriately- after 1 week and 3 e-mails to tech support as well as 1 phone call to the store manager- i was finally able to sign in to my account only to find that my most valuable items were sold for next to nothing. and then i was to get a percentage of that number. - for example a Ted Baker winter coat with a fur collar valued at 250.00 was sold for 48.00 and then i was credited 19.20 to my account. as well as a shirt that was priced at 24.00 was "accidentally" sold for 6 dollars and i then was credited 2.40 for it. for those prices i would have rather donated the items to a homeless shelter.

after 1 month of consigning- and several mistakes involving my clothes being sold for next to nothing- i decided i was done with this company, so i went in to the store to get my remaining items , only to find that 3 had been " lost" i was told that i would be mailed a check for my sold items, and now 3 weeks later i call to see what is taking so long, and they accidentally did not send out the check... at this point i asked for the regional managers name and phone number.

i am Disgusted with the treatment that i received from the store manager Jessica, as well as the fact that she refused to give me a phone number to their regional manager, and hung up on me.

anyone interested in consigning i suggest go to THE GARMENT DISTRICT or THE BUFFALO EXCHANGE. they pay 40% cash immediately when you drop off your clothes or give a 60% store credit... for the full value of everything you consign... - no chance of things " getting lost " or an item that is in their store for 8 days being accidentally sold for a 70% sale.

Great place. I love to frequent the STA on Newbury and the other Boston locations. They are a fun and one of the nicer consignment places. Everything is so well marked and they always have good sales. They have a wide selection of clothing meaning lots of sweaters, knits, pants, skirts, dresses, shoes, etc. You can find labels from the unknown to Gap, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Dolce, etc.

What I don't love is that they don't always have the best turnover of clothing. It's not like a regular retail store where they get deliveries weekly. So if you are a big shopper you may be sifting through the same stuff more often. But that's why it's so great that they have a lot of stores.

I'm bummed out when I do find something I like and it's not in "sellable" condition in my opinion - oil stain, minor tear, too many fuzz balls, too faded, etc. So I'm surprised they would accept those items to sell, but maybe because of the economic times they are having a tougher time too?

Overall I would always recommend the STA as one of your shopping places. Some of them even have new boutique items...

They give you the runaround on getting your money‎‎. After bringing in a large group of clothing , I called ahead of time to make sure that I could walk in, get a check and collect the unsold items at the end of the sales period they set up. The person on the phone tThey give you the runaround on getting your money‎‎ old me "No problem come on in we are ready for you"

Well they couldn't find the more expensive items and gave me a check for what they thought sold.

I was told to call in a week, a week laterI called and they said the manager will be right back and took a message. No call back two days later.

I called again.. No call again

I called one more time and they gave me a hard time about paying for the "Lost" items ... Suddenly they found the information and supposedly they are sending check to me right away. we will see and I will post if it dosen't...

Strange they have an online service which shows you how much stuff has been sold and totals and what hasn't sold..

The funny part is the day I made the pick up and discovered missing items the online account information disappeared..

They wouldn't address that and overall evasive on any questions regarding my things, and acted as if their time was more important then anybody elses.

Lots of attitude and when I asked about why no one called back, she said "Oh we have 10,000 or so customers and we dont have time" LOL

It is a closet of a store and her answer was just a put off, someone can take two minutes to call back, just another example of bad treatment and service at this place...

Crappy service, you have to work at getting things done, toooo much attitude from the help and overall I would highly suggest going someplace else .

last note, you do not really know how much things sold for and frankly after they way I was treated I doubt the net anount they said things sold for was the real amount. I get the feeling that they make money by understating what they sold it for and you end up with less then deserved......

Good stuff. I've gotten deals here. The store @ Exeter on Newbury is the best one. Put it this way...I got a fab Petro Zillia skirt for $20. Be patient & pick thru the racks. If you sign up & donate clothes, you earn $$ on the sale.
