“So if your looking for a nice night out with your friends and or significant others and you would like to pay 20 bucks to sit and freeze your ass off and pay 6 bucks a beer to make you more cold, this is a great event for you.”
“The comedians weren't only mindly funny and the service was bad.”
“The Drink prices were ridiculous and then they rushed us out because the club became a dance club after the show.”
We got cheap tickets online...You get what you pay for. Horr.
Sometimes you just gotta choose. French fries or mashed potatoes. Boxers or briefs. Comedy club or dance club. Point is you can't do both.
The Comedy Stop fails miserably by trying to do the impossible. It attempts to make people laugh in the least amenable of venues. The audience's view to the comics on stage is obscured by enormous jagged columns. The working bar smack dab in the middle of the place doesn't help. People congregate and completely ignore the show.
Comics deserve the audience's attention. It helps them focus and be funny--the whole reason you go to a comedy club. With all the distractions, it's no wonder the line-up was lousy. Maybe the dance club is better, but if you're going to get some laughs, spare yourself the trouble. Drinks were horrible and expensive
Below average comedy club. Even though I had free tickets to a comedy show here, it wasn't worth it. The comedians were a bit below average and the club was far below average. The service was very slow and the one old waitress was very unfriendly. The drinks were awful and weak.
Terrible club. This club was awful. The comedians weren't funny, the service was slow and the staff members were wicked rude.
Sort of good....
Pros: Comedians were pretty good
Cons: Terrible service, expensive drinks, barely any parking in the area
Conclusion: Not worth going
Pleasantly surprised.
After reading a bunch of reviews on here and Yelp, I was skeptical on this place. After hearing they had 1/2 price tickets for people with college or military IDs, I took advantage of having that college ID.
Comedians were super funny and there were enough to performers to fill an hour and a half set without getting stagnant or boring. I laughed pretty hard a few times
The door prices are cheap enough (and even cheaper if you bought a Groupon or have a college or military ID) and the drinks aren't over-the-top expensive. They're pretty on par with the normal prices for that area.
Shows are done by 10, leaving plenty of time for going out afterwards. Would definitely go back to this place in the future
Tourist trap!. I was very disappointed by my experience here. The service was slow (and not so friendly), while our drinks were over-priced and not very good. The comedy show was pretty dull. We had a hard time hearing the comedians from our seats.
Fun night out. I went here a couple of weeks ago, and I had a great time! A fun way to spend an evening in downtown Boston. (I, like other reviewers, got free tickets, but I would go again in the future).
Nick's: A Disappointment.
Nick's Comedy Stop disappointed me because it used to be a great club.
Their drinks were overpriced and not worth the money at all.
Their service was below average.
Pick something else to do - No heat in place - aweful. We went to Nicks last night and it was not only bad it kind of amazed us. It was about 25 degrees outside and they didn't put the heat on to save money. There was six comedians of which two were pretty good. So if your looking for a nice night out with your friends and or significant others and you would like to pay 20 bucks to sit and freeze your ass off and pay 6 bucks a beer to make you more cold, this is a great event for you. Unreal they can't put the heat on, I know times are tough but when it's 25 degrees out during the holidays put the f***** heat on you cheap bastards.
You get what you pay for. Pay nothing get nothing. Some friends of ours received free ticket for the comedy show. We had just been to a club around the corner by the common a month earlier and had a wonderful time so we agreed to go. Apparently 90% of the audience good their tickets for free also. The certainly treated the comics like the had no value. The comics were no great but they did have a chance anyway, The crowd was heckling and jeering them a night and they were so loud you couldn't really hear them anyway. The Drink prices were ridiculous and then they rushed us out because the club became a dance club after the show. Never again. We will go back to the little club from earlier.
